Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment isn’t an open-world game like Breath of the Wild or Tears of the Kingdom. However, it still offers a lot of content as a musou spin-off. Besides the main story, which covers the Imprisoning War, there are various optional missions and endgame activities designed to keep players engaged well after finishing the story. Koei Tecmo has created a substantial experience, and here’s how long it typically takes to complete.
### How Long to Complete the Campaign
Age of Imprisonment doesn’t require the same lengthy commitment as traditional Zelda titles. The game consists of shorter, more linear stages rather than full access to Hyrule’s entire map. Despite this, there are many levels to go through. During a review playthrough, it took about 22 hours to finish the main campaign, including most side missions and side quests encountered along the way, as well as dedicating time to upgrade weapons and characters.
Your playtime may vary depending on how quickly you prefer to move through the main story. Each stage has a recommended level to aim for, but you can still beat them with lower levels if you have enough skill. It’s helpful to bring plenty of healing items and make use of camp spots when possible.
### How Long to Achieve 100% Completion
After finishing the main story and reaching the credits, the world map unlocks additional missions and activities. You can explore conflicts to reclaim territories across Hyrule and defend areas while new challenges, called “Vicious Battles,” become available. These battles feature tougher enemies and are designed for players seeking a real challenge.
There is also a special questline called Lenalia’s Journal, involving helping a character complete murals beneath Hyrule Castle. To unlock this, players must achieve full 100% completion of all territories, which requires finishing every mission, unlocking all upgrades, and leveling every character fully. This is quite an undertaking and will add roughly 10 more hours to the total gameplay time when all is done.
