It’s been quite a while since a major video game based on Hunter x Hunter has been released, but that changes with the arrival of Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact. This new game offers fans a fresh way to dive into the beloved series.
While Nen x Impact primarily focuses on competitive online tag-fighting, it has more to offer than just battles. Players can easily spend hours battling online, but the game also features various modes that are worth exploring.
How Long Does the Story Mode Take to Complete?
For those who prefer single-player experiences, the centerpiece is the Story Mode, which covers events from the Hunter Exam Arc to the Chimera Ant Arc. The Story Mode consists of 19 chapters, with most chapters requiring only a few minutes to complete, as they generally involve just one battle. Personally, I finished the entire Story Mode in a little over an hour, though certain objectives during fights—like finishing with a specific move—can extend the playtime slightly.
What Other Modes Are Available, and How Long Do They Take?
Aside from the brief Story Mode, Nen x Impact includes several exciting game modes for combat enthusiasts. Combo Trials and Time Trials are particularly prominent. Combo Trials can be quite challenging and require you to complete combos with each character. Depending on your skill, finishing all 16 character trials might take over five hours.
In contrast, the Time Trials are more straightforward, featuring three battles that you should be able to clear in about an hour, although the AI can be quite formidable. Additionally, there’s an eight-battle Arcade Mode where you can earn rewards upon completion, which won’t take much time.
The game also features Heavens Arena and its companion mode, Battle Olympia, which unlocks after you beat Heavens Arena. Both modes are quite similar, with Heavens Arena spanning 31 progressively tougher battles, while Battle Olympia ramps up the difficulty even more. Expect to invest around three hours to conquer these modes.
If you’re aiming for a Platinum trophy in Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact, be prepared for a significant time commitment. One trophy requires you to compete in 300 online battles, making it quite a marathon.
How Long Would It Take to 100% the Game?
If you’re focused solely on beating the Story Mode, you’re looking at about two hours of gameplay. However, when you factor in all the single-player modes, the total playtime rises to around 15 hours, depending on your skill. This number will increase even further if you intend to spend time in online modes.
The game also contains numerous collectibles to find, such as Greed Island cards, titles, and profile pictures for online play. You’ll naturally gather these as you progress, but there’s plenty to unlock along the way.
