Just like many other soulslike games these days, your journey in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers doesn’t really end after you defeat the final boss. You get the chance to start a New Game Plus (NG+), where you can find items or unlock different endings you might have missed on your first run.
The main reason to do NG+ is to unlock all the endings, but there are other benefits that make the replay smoother and more fun. It’s pretty much essential if you want to experience everything the game has to offer, and we love how smoothly it’s implemented here.
Some images here include spoilers due to how you access NG+. If you want to avoid spoilers, you might want to skip the first photo, but the rest are spoiler-free!
What Is New Game Plus?
Wuchang: Fallen Feathers offers a post-game mode called NG+ that becomes available after you beat the final boss. To access it, select the new ‘Causality Reversal’ option from the main menu. Choosing this or hitting “Continue” will start your NG+ adventure.
You can’t explore areas before the boss fight again, so keep that in mind. Once you defeat the final boss, you can either begin NG+ or start a brand-new game from scratch.
NG+ doesn’t just stop after a few runs—you can keep going as long as you want. Each cycle makes you stronger, improves gear, and gets you closer to becoming unstoppable!
You can also choose “New Game” to start fresh, but that erases everything from your previous run. This isn’t recommended if you want to carry over progress.
What Changes in New Game Plus?
While there are no new areas or bosses unless you missed them the first time, NG+ makes your items more powerful. For example, Benedictions and Pendants now have a “+1” indicating they’re upgraded, making them more effective in battle.
Enemies—including bosses—have more health and deal more damage, so be prepared for tougher fights. Defeating bosses now grants Red Mercury Essence, which speeds up leveling in the Impetus Repository, giving you a boost for your next run.
Most of your progress carries over, making it feel worthwhile. In addition, looting the same spells in NG+ will give Blood of Wangdi instead of the normal enhanced version, which helps fill your Impetus Repository much faster.
What Carries Over?
Almost everything you’ve earned or upgraded will carry into NG+. This includes:
- Bai Wuchang’s level and stats
- All upgrade nodes unlocked in the Impetus Repository
- All armor, weapons, and gear stored in your inventory
- All spells, Jade Pendants, and Benedictions
- Items in shops at Tao Qing and Wu Gang (up to your progress point)
And once you get enhanced versions of gear and upgrades, you can sell the originals for good prices, helping fund better upgrades.
What Doesn’t Carry Over?
Some crucial things reset when starting NG+:
- All activated Shrines become deactivated
- Valuable quest items needed for story progress are lost
- NPC quest progress resets, so you’ll have to start those quests over
While losing quest progress and shrines can be disappointing, most of your core stats, gear, and upgrades stay intact, making NG+ a manageable and rewarding replay.
Summary
Almost everything vital carries over to your NG+ runs, so your hard work isn’t lost. Enemies are tougher, but you also get stronger gear, faster leveling, and more resources. It’s a great way to challenge yourself and explore new possibilities, knowing your progress won’t go to waste.
