With all the content in Hollow Knight: Silksong, it’s easy for some of its mechanics to go unnoticed at first. One of these is the Silk Hearts, which can be confusing because the game doesn’t explain much about how they work or where to find them. But their importance is not something you should ignore.
There are only three places in Pharloom where you can get Silk Hearts. They are rare, and their effects can be boosted with certain tools. While they aren’t as crucial as collecting every Mask Shard or Spool Fragment, Silk Hearts are essential if you want to complete everything 100% and can be a lifesaver in fights.
What Do Silk Hearts Do?
Each Silk Heart you find allows Hornet to use an extra Silk bar, which recharges over time after use. When you have all three Silk Hearts, you can unleash powerful Silk Skills more often. This means you can perform stronger attacks more quickly or charge up without much risk. Having more Silk Hearts also makes it easier to use trip moves like the Clawline, helping you move faster through tough areas.
You can increase the value of Silk Hearts by combining them with Hornet’s tools, such as the Weavelight or Egg of Flealia. These tools let you use Silk Skills without needing to recharge, making your gameplay smoother.
Where to Find All Three Silk Hearts in Silksong
The first Silk Heart is easy to find. After defeating the Bell Beast in the Marrows, you get this upgrade, which also allows fast travel across Pharloom and gives you your first permanent Silk resource.
The second Silk Heart is trickier. It’s in the Whiteward area under the Choral Chambers. To get it, you need to unlock the Clawline and find two keys to access a secret room:
- Buy or find the White Key (from the Songclaic or in the rubble of the first shrine).
- Use it to unlock the Whiteward elevator beneath the Choral Chambers.
- Go to the rightmost part of Whiteward, past the Morticians.
- Find a secret passage with light shining through the ceiling.
- Use the Clawline to activate a hidden lever to get the Surgeon’s Key.
Once you have the Surgeon’s Key, head back to the far left of Whiteward. Use the key on the Ornate lock to access a secret boss arena. Prepare carefully, because this boss is tough in a small space. Bringing powerful area-of-effect tools and upgrades will help you survive.
The third Silk Heart is the easiest to miss. You unlock it after defeating one of the final bosses in the story. After collecting all three Ancient Melodies and reaching the Citadel’s Cradle, you’ll need to defeat Lace once again. She will drop the last Silk Heart you need to maximize your Silk regeneration in Hollow Knight: Silksong.
