One of the first side quests you’ll likely come across in Hollow Knight: Silksong is called “Berry Picking.” In the game, side quests—known as Wishes—like this one and “Rite of the Pollip” are good breaks from the main story. They often give you helpful items that can boost your abilities and make it easier to explore the world.
“Berry Picking” is pretty much what it sounds like. You’ll travel through some early game areas looking for rare items called Mossberries. You only need to find three to finish the quest, but collecting a few extras can net you extra rewards. Below, you’ll find the locations of all four Mossberries we’ve found so far, as well as where to find the quest giver.
How to Start “Berry Picking”
Finding the Moss Druid
To begin the quest, head to the map point shown above, located in the northeast part of the Mosshome area. Inside this room, you’ll unlock the Silkspear ability—your first ranged attack, which is necessary to start the quest. There’s also a bench here if you want to switch your gear, heal, or save.
Use your Silkspear to cut through the silk strands to the east, then move on to meet the Moss Druid, a strange character working on an unusual ritual. Talk to the Druid until they ask for your help: if you bring back three Mossberries, they’ll finish their potion, and you’ll be rewarded.
You only need three Mossberries to complete the quest, but there are more in the game. The first three locations are the easiest to find, but collecting others will give you extra rewards.
All Mossberry Locations in Silksong
Mossberry #1 – Mosshome
The first Mossberry is close to the Moss Druid. Head left from the Druid’s lair, then drop through the gap. Go down and to the right into the next area, where you’ll see a flying bug carrying something green. Defeat the bug to get your first Mossberry.
Mossberry #3 – Moss Grotto
This Mossberry is located at the northeast part of Moss Grotto. It’s on your way from the start toward Bone Bottom. If you miss it the first time, you can come back by dropping through the hole between Bone Bottom and the Ruined Chapel—just hold right as you fall to land on the upper ledge, then go left into the subsequent area. Jump to the lower platform to your right; if you miss it, you’ll land near the game’s starting point. Crawl around and go up and right until you reach a large east chamber where the Mossberry hangs from the ceiling, guarded by a flying bug.
Mossberry #4 – Bone Bottom / Mosshome
This one is best collected after unlocking the elevator from Mosshome to Bone Bottom, which you can do by exploring Mosshome and activating a lever. Once you have the elevator, head to the southwest part of Mosshome. Look down from the ledge and wait for a flying green-glowing enemy to pass by—you’ll need to defeat it to get the Mossberry. You can do this with your ranged attack or by attacking it repeatedly when airborne. Be careful—falling will drop you straight into Bone Bottom, so make sure you have the elevator activated before attempting.
Rewards for “Berry Picking”
For Finding Three or More Mossberries
Turning in three Mossberries grants you a special accessory called the Druid’s Eye. You can equip this to a blue slot on your crest; while wearing it, any damage you take adds to your silk meter, which you can use to heal or perform special moves.
If you bring back more than three Mossberries, you’ll earn 50 Rosaries for each extra berry. This is a significant amount early in the game and will help you buy important gear and items in Silksong.
Mastering these small quests and their techniques, like pogo jumping, is helpful as you progress, especially since some areas later in the game will require you to have mastered these skills. Gathering Mossberries and completing this quest is a good way to practice while earning valuable rewards.
