Guide to Finishing the Fish Noir Quest in Hello Kitty Island

In Hello Kitty Island Adventure, you can connect with different characters. By gifting them their favorite items, your bond with them will grow. One of the charming characters is Badtz-Maru—a penguin who not only teaches you how to fish but also enjoys comic books and playing pranks.

Did you know Badtz-Maru has a secret detective side? If you’ve taken on the Fish Noir quest, you’ll discover that some of his fishing equipment has gone missing. If you’re ready to assist him in this mystery, we’ve created a helpful guide for you!

How to Start the Fish Noir Quest

To kick off the Fish Noir quest, you must first reach Friendship Level 11 with Badtz-Maru. You’ll also need to finish some earlier quests before he can offer this one.

Specifically, complete ‘Keep It Reel,’ a quest from Badtz-Maru, and ‘Comic Relief,’ which you get from Hangyodon after your friendship level with him hits Level six. Once you have these done, you’ll be able to take on the ‘Fish Noir’ quest from Badtz-Maru.

How to Finish the Fish Noir Quest

To start, chat with Badtz-Maru at his usual spot by the shop next to the Resort Docks fast travel point. After your conversation, the quest officially kicks off. Your mission is to locate all of Badtz-Maru’s missing fishing gear.

Finding the First Clue

Your first task is to search for clues on the beach. Head over to the southern area of Seaside Resort, where you’ll find the Fish Calling Card to the right of Badtz-Maru as he wears a detective outfit. Bring this back to him to earn a Tan Detective Hat.

Finding the Second Clue

Next, dive into Rainbow Reef for the second clue. Fast travel to the Comedy Club and then go northeast towards Visitor Cabin number three. Behind that cabin, near a patch of red coral, you’ll find the Fishes’ Map.

Take this map back to Badtz-Maru, who is located at the dock northwest of Chococat’s workbench in Seaside Resort.

Finding the Third Clue

The third clue is also in Rainbow Reef. Fast travel to the Sunken Ship, and to the left of the mailbox, you’ll spot Badtz-Maru’s Fishing Rod. Return it to Hello Kitty’s cafe to give it to Badtz-Maru. In exchange, he will reward you with a Hot Cocoa. Then, talk to Hello Kitty and share the Hot Cocoa with her.

Finding the Final Clue

For the last clue, go back to the dock northwest of Chococat’s workbench to find Badtz-Maru again. Jump off the right side of the dock into the water and dive deep. You’ll find the Fish Dance Reel near some pink barnacles south of Mermaidifer’s entrance.

Hand the Fish Dance Reel back to Badtz-Maru, and he will reward you with a Tan Detective Coat, completing the Fish Noir quest. Now you can stroll around looking like a cool detective—just like Badtz-Maru!
