In Monster Hunter Wilds, side quests keep you engaged right up until the endgame, and one of the most challenging is called Continuing Conflict. This quest requires you to hunt a tempered Rathian and a tempered Quematrice in the Windward Plains. These fierce creatures will put all your skills and strength to the test.
Before diving into this mission, make sure you’re properly equipped. It takes a bit of effort to unlock Continuing Conflict, but once you’re ready, you’ll need to help Murtabak in Kunafa village. Below is everything you need to know to successfully complete the Continuing Conflict side quest.
How to Begin the Continuing Conflict Side Quest
To unlock Continuing Conflict, you must fulfill two requirements. First, complete Chapter 5-3, titled “A Break in the Clouds,” after defeating all the apex predators in the Scarlet Forest, Oilwell Basin, and Windward Plains. Secondly, you must reach Hunter Rank 31.
Once you’ve accomplished these tasks, head over to Kunafa village in the heart of the Plains and talk to Murtabak. He will inform you about some tempered monsters causing chaos in the area and will ask for your help.

How to Complete the Continuing Conflict Side Quest
Of the two monsters, it’s advisable to tackle the tempered Rathian first. Its erratic movements and stronger attacks make it the bigger threat, so handling it while you still have the energy is wise. The Quematrice is significantly easier and shouldn’t take as much time or effort to defeat.
The tempered Rathian is vulnerable to the Dragon element, while the Quematrice is weak against Water, so make sure to use these elements for maximum damage.
Having a good supply of Flashbugs is also a smart strategy. The Rathian tends to stay airborne, making it harder to hit, but you can use Flashbugs to bring it down to the ground.
Regarding the quest itself, it’s straightforward. Just slay or capture the tempered monsters, then return to Murtabak in Kunafa for your rewards.
Rewards for Completing the Continuing Conflict Side Quest
You’ll receive a wealth of rewards for completing Continuing Conflict. The most valuable prizes include Artian weapon parts obtained from hunting the tempered beasts. Additionally, you will receive an assortment of high-rank monster materials and Hunter Symbol 1.
When you turn in the quest to Murtabak, you will also gain:
- Three units of Sharp Kunafa Cheese for grilling
- 20 Thunderbug Capacitors
- 300 Guild Points
- A significant amount of Hunter Rank XP.
Moreover, you’ll gain access to multi-monster Field Survey quests in the Windward Plains, which are the best way to farm for Artian weapon parts, decorations, and other valuable materials.
