GTA Online Peyote Plants: A Rare Adventure Awaits
In GTA Online, peyote plants have become quite rare, sprouting only during special events across Los Santos and Blaine County. These events can last for as little as a week, and appearances may be infrequent. Historically, players encountered these plants during Halloween celebrations in 2021 and 2022, and again during Easter in 2023 when they transformed players into adorable bunnies. After a brief reappearance in November 2023 and January 2024, they returned again in May 2024 as part of A Superyacht Life Week, albeit only in underwater locations. Nearly a year later, in April 2025, players can once more find these elusive peyote plants, creating a unique opportunity not to be missed.
As of April 3, 2025, peyote plants have made their comeback for a limited time, and simply logging in grants players a complimentary Sasquatch outfit!
For those who have previously sampled a peyote plant in the single-player mode of GTA 5, you’re aware of what’s in store. However, for newcomers, here’s the deal: these peyote plants are loaded with hallucinogenic properties, and when consumed, they turn players into various wild animals.
The fun doesn’t stop there—once transformed, you can use the animal’s unique abilities to create chaos around the in-game world. Interestingly, other players in your session will also see you in your animal form and can react to your antics. My own experience as a deer ended hilariously when an unsuspecting player hit me with their car, followed by a final shot from a drive-by. Locations of GTA Online Peyote Plants
When available, there are a total of 76 peyote plant locations scattered throughout San Andreas and its surrounding waters. You can find these locations marked on the map below—just click for a larger view. As you approach these areas, your controller will rumble, accompanying the sound of the animal related to the peyote plant you’re about to consume.
To find a peyote plant, follow the vibrations until they become intense, guiding you to a small green puck adorned with white flowers. When you’re close enough, press the right button on your controller to transform into an animal. Each creature boasts its own set of controls, so keep an eye on the tip that appears in the corner of your screen for instructions on how to navigate your new form. This wild adventure will continue until your animal is defeated, you enter water (or land if your new form is aquatic), or you choose to revert back using the right button again. Plus, you’ll earn a substantial amount of RP for your efforts!
