The Graviton Spike is the newest Exotic hand cannon introduced in the Destiny 2 universe. This weapon effectively combines the characteristics of a 150 RPM Arc primary and a 90 RPM Stasis shotgun. It’s incredibly adaptable, and players who can switch between its two firing modes will reap the rewards of continuous lightning strikes and crystal detonations. In the right hands, it’s a formidable tool.
Acquiring this weapon is fairly simple, though some may find it a bit frustrating due to obscure collectible locations and a time restriction. In this guide, we’ll outline how to initiate the Graviton Spike quest and provide a step-by-step walkthrough to complete it, including all weapon part locations on Kepler.
How To Start The Graviton Through The Ages Quest
The Graviton Through the Ages quest becomes available after you finish the Edge of Fate campaign at any difficulty level. After completing the final mission, head to the Altar of Relativity in the Caldera hub to pick up the quest from Lodi.
Completing this quest typically takes about an hour. However, be mindful that the last step involves a time gate. You’ll have to wait for the Sieve activity to open up to finish the quest, so it’s wise to start it when Sieve has about 30-45 minutes left on its timer. This way, by the time you gather all the components, you can participate in that activity to earn the Graviton Spike.
Investigate The Outer Steppes
After talking with Lodi, you’ll discover that the Graviton Spike’s parts are scattered throughout Kepler. His initial clue will lead you to the Outer Steppes, located in the northwest part of the map. Once you leave the tunnel network and arrive in the Outer Wastes, follow the Exotic waypoint on your HUD and take a left at the broken vents. Navigate around the rocks to find a Rosetta terminal to interact with.
Most of the quest objectives involve interacting with Rosetta terminals or debris in secret areas. Keep an eye out for the “Hidden Objective” buff on the left side of your HUD; it indicates that you’re close to a solution.
Outer Steppes DEO Weapon Piece
You will find the weapon piece in the southwest corner of the Outer Wastes, inside a building perched on a cliffside. To access it, you need to power three generators with Matterspark.
- Generator One: Upon entering the area, look down as you cross a gap in the floor and locate the reactor next to an inactive gravity lift.
- Generator Two: Utilize the gravity lift to propel yourself into an opening in the nearby wall.
- Generator Three: Roll through a nearby pipe with Matterspark to energize the generator next to the door.
Once all three generators are functional, the door next to the third generator will unlock. Go inside and interact with the debris on the ground to obtain the first component.
Investigate The Gorge
The next weapon piece can be found in The Gorge, more specifically in the Stellar Sink tunnels. The waypoint on your HUD will guide you to the correct room. Once you’re there, approach the cylindrical Vex structure that juts from the ground to discover the Rosetta terminal.
Gorge DEO Weapon Piece
This component is located in the southeast corner of The Stellar Sink. By following the tunnels from the Rosetta terminal, you’ll head in the right direction. Retrieving this part can be challenging, as you will need to find Mattermorph from another area to clear a way.
- Use Matterspark to enter the tube. At the fork, go straight.
- In the next room, leap onto the ledge at the far right corner. Employ Matterspark to squeeze into the next room.
- Look left to spot a Mattermorph cluster. Break one of the eggs to enhance your melee ability.
- Utilize the melee ability to move a Vex cube blocking your original route.
- Return to the fork in the tube, use Matterspark again, and take the right path.
- Exit Matterspark and use your newly enhanced melee to push aside the Vex cube obstructing the way. The component you need will be inside.
Investigate The Exile’s Accord
The next Rosetta terminal can be found at Exile’s Accord. Head to the eastern edge of Kepler and follow the waypoint, which will lead you to the terminal.
Exile’s Accord DEO Weapon Piece
Getting to the weapon component here is a bit tricky. After leaving the Rosetta room, enter the spore-infested area nearby. Use Matterspark and take the right exit portal to access the upper levels of the Fallen base. Look for a Relocator cannon in the back left corner of the room. Grab it, aim upward through one of the vents, fire the teleporter pad, then use the teleporter to reach the next floor. The weapon part will be on your right.
Collect Vex Data Fragments
For the next step, you’ll need to gather Vex Data Fragments from defeated Vex enemies. You can easily farm these Vex just outside of Caldera. Nearby, there’s a structure you can enter that usually features a mote pylon. Activating this will spawn a horde of Vex enemies and a Hydra boss towards the end.
Investigate The Aionian Campus
You’ll need one last component before you can participate in a Sieve run. Venture to the Aionian Campus in Central Academy. The waypoint will direct you to a tight area with a laser-blocked door and a nearby teleporter. You’ll need to ascend to the campus grounds above ground and acquire a Relocator cannon.
Upon exiting, make a quick left and head to the corner. Inside a red cylinder, you’ll discover a Mattermorph cluster. Use your enhanced melee to unlock the container holding the Relocator, which is suspended from a crane above. Collect the Relocator cannon, return downstairs, activate the teleporter, and then use it to obtain the final piece.
Complete A Sieve Run
Now that you’ve gathered all the components, it’s time to forge the Graviton Spike. Launch the Sieve activity and complete a single round. The reward chest at the end will drop the Graviton Spike Exotic with a red border. Extract the deepsight from this weapon to enable crafting at the Enclave hub in Savathun’s Throne World. Remember to check the “World” tab to access this area; the Enclave isn’t readily visible through the normal Portal UI.
Further catalysts and perks for Graviton Spike can be unlocked by progressing through Kepler’s higher world tier quests.
