Last week’s reveal of Ghost of Yotei gave us insights into what to expect at the game’s launch. Some major changes include a wider range of weapons, updated exploration and progression systems, and the removal of the stance system from Ghost of Tsushima. While we enjoyed the previous game and are excited about Yotei, many fans are hoping to see one of Sucker Punch’s older titles return.
Before Tsushima, Sucker Punch was famous for creating Infamous and Sly Cooper. Infamous, in particular, made players feel like superheroes or villains. Although this franchise seems to be on hold, Ghost of Yotei’s director, Nate Fox, expressed interest in bringing it back.
Ghost Of Yotei Director Wants To Bring Back Infamous, But It Won’t Be Anytime Soon
In an interview with Game Informer, Fox discussed some new and returning features in the game. When asked if he would consider revisiting the Infamous series, he said, “I would love to work on more Infamous. I would love to see a trilogy rerelease, but Sucker Punch is a one game at a time shop, and right now we are very focused on finishing Ghost of Yōtei.”
This means if Sucker Punch decides to go back to Infamous, we’ll likely not hear about it until after the launch of Ghost of Yotei in October. Just because Fox is interested in working on more Infamous doesn’t guarantee a revival. It’s one of the biggest PlayStation franchises that hasn’t received a remaster, and fans are eager for it.
While there will be many changes in the sequel, co-director Jason Connell confirmed that one of the best features from Tsushima will return in Yotei — the quick fast travel option. Connell stated, “It’s a convenience thing, right? That’s not going anywhere because people like it so much. But yeah, it’s pretty quick.” He added, “Yeah. People love it.”
