Starfield is back this week with the new Terran Armada downloadable content (DLC) and the free Lanes update. The game is now also available on PlayStation 5. If you haven’t played Bethesda’s huge role-playing game before, now is a great time to start. The Terran Armada DLC is a story expansion that’s simple to begin. Just follow a few steps, and you’ll be able to experience what the DLC has to offer.
To get the Terran Armada DLC, you need to have purchased the Premium Edition of Starfield on PS5 for $69.99, or buy the Premium Edition upgrade for $24.99 on your platform, or buy the standalone DLC for $9.99. After purchasing, you’ll need to download and install it. Once that’s done, you’re ready to play.
Level Recommendation for Starting Terran Armada
You don’t need to finish the main story before starting the expansion. However, it’s recommended to have a character level of 50 or higher. This is a warning because starting fresh in Starfield — especially on PS5 — means you’ll have some catching up to do before really getting into the new content. Keep in mind, this is just a recommendation, not a requirement. You can attempt the DLC at a lower level, but it might be quite challenging.
How to Start the Terran Armada DLC in Starfield
The only requirement to begin the DLC is reaching Akila City. If you haven’t arrived there yet, you’ll likely get there within the first few hours of playing. If you are already in Akila City, just go back there to start the mission chain.
Once in Akila City, listen to the news broadcast on the Settled Systems News Network (SSNN). You can do this by walking close to the SSNN building. The broadcast will mention the Terran Armada, and you’ll need to listen to the entire broadcast to get the details.
After that, you’ll receive a new quest called “Attack of the Terran Armada.” Your next steps are:
- Reach Akila City
- Listen to the SSNN broadcast
- Follow the prompt for the “Attack of the Terran Armada” quest
- Travel to Nirvana 1 and join the search party there
Remember, it’s recommended to be at least level 50 before starting this quest and the DLC, so make sure you’re prepared before diving in.
