With the upcoming free "Tales of Agrabah" update launching in Disney Dreamlight Valley on February 26th, it’s vital to get ready so you can access all new features as soon as they arrive. Although we don’t have a detailed list of what’s needed to unlock and fully upgrade the new characters, there are a few strategies to ensure you’re set for whatever comes.
At this point, the only confirmed new characters from Agrabah will be Aladdin and Princess Jasmine, both of whom will be introduced in an Aladdin-themed realm. Drawing from previous character releases, we can anticipate some possible requirements like Dreamlight costs and friendship levels.
Stock Up On Dreamlight
The "Tales of Agrabah" update is expected to require a substantial amount of Dreamlight to unlock everything. Since both Aladdin and Jasmine will be part of a realm in the Dreamlight Castle, familiarizing yourself with the process is essential. Initially, realm entry costs started at 3,000 Dreamlight, but those costs have increased over time. The last addition, Mulan, had a set cost of 15,000 Dreamlight.
Given that 15,000 Dreamlight is a standard cost across the valley, including for the premium biomes, you should prepare to have at least 15,000 Dreamlight on hand to enter the Aladdin realm.
In addition to the new realm, the update also includes four floating islands, each requiring 15,000 Dreamlight to access. So, if you want to unlock everything, plan on gathering a total of 75,000 Dreamlight.
To build up your Dreamlight, stick to completing quests in the base game’s Valley. Just remember that daily tasks in the Disney Dreamlight Valley DLCs will yield their specific currencies instead of Dreamlight. On average, these tasks bring in 50-250 Dreamlight, meaning you could potentially need to complete around 100 tasks to gather enough for the realm entry.
Fortunately, there’s a quicker method using Dream Shards. At any crafting station, you can create 250 Dreamlight using 10 Dream Shards. To gather enough for the entire 15,000 required, you’ll need about 600 Dream Shards, which can typically be found while digging or clearing Night Thorns. However, it’s best to focus on earning Dreamlight from tasks first and use Dream Shards only as a backup on update day.
Max Out Friendships With Other Villagers
While Dreamlight is the top priority, boosting friendship levels with other villagers is also beneficial. New characters often have friendship quests linked to existing villagers, meaning that Jasmine and Aladdin may need you to have strong relationships with others to complete their quests. Fortunately, since Aladdin and Jasmine are core characters, none of their quests will involve DLC characters.
This means you should focus on increasing friendships with base-game characters and those you’ve unlocked through other means, such as exploring realms or finding items in the valley. The easiest way to enhance bonds includes serving them meals, giving them favorite gifts, and chatting daily as you count down to the update.
Complete Any Outstanding Quests
In the midst of preparing for new friendships and gathering Dreamlight, don’t overlook the main storyline quests. These quests are essential as they can sometimes unlock specific elements within the game that may be necessary for friendship quests.
To avoid impeding your progress with Aladdin and Jasmine, make sure to wrap up any outstanding story quests. Check the quest menu for reminders, ensuring you complete everything in the Story Quest section.
If you’re up to date with your Dreamlight, friendships, and quests, the final step is to farm for Gold Coins and gather any crafting materials you might need. Keeping a well-stocked inventory will help you dive into Disney Dreamlight Valley: Tales of Agrabah right from its release on February 26, 2025.
