What Are Bamboo Shoots?
Bamboo Shoots are a rare resource in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers. Unlike most materials that drop from enemies, you have to find them on your own.
These shoots act like money, similar to how Red Mercury works. But instead of just being currency, you can use Bamboo Shoots to buy weapons, magic, and other items throughout the game.
Generally, players might find only two or three Bamboo Shoots at a time. It’s a good idea to save some before spending so you can see what upgrades, weapons, and spells are available.
Where To Find Bamboo Shoots
To get Bamboo Shoots, you need to find Bamboo Sprouts, tiny sentient pieces of bamboo that run around the map.
If you’re not sure what they look like, check the image above, or look at your autosave icon for hints.
Bamboo Sprouts tend to reappear in the same spots, so once you find one, remember its location. You can come back later to gather more whenever needed.
Bamboo Sprouts usually appear in areas that meet these criteria:
- Narrow paths
- Steer clear of enemies
- Near save points
In these places, Bamboo Sprouts pop up from the ground and start running away from you. To collect a Bamboo Shoot, attack the Sprout with your sword or a ranged spell.
Note: Bamboo Sprouts only stay visible for a short time, so act quickly when you see one!
Once you attack and defeat the Sprout, you’ll claim the Bamboo Shoot. Here are three locations where these Sprouts often show up:
Bamboo Sprout Location | Details |
---|---|
Near Panda’s Cave |
Just below the Shu Sanctuary, near the path to Doomwillow Beach, there’s a cave with a Panda inside. A Bamboo Sprout is always just outside this cave. |
Above the Narrow Path |
After defeating the first Tang Maid in the cave, you’ll cross a bridge over the river. Near this bridge, on the switchback trails, a Bamboo Sprout often appears. |
Tang Palace |
Near the shrine behind the Tang Palace, head right along the path toward the palace. On the wooden bridge, a Bamboo Sprout can be found. |
If you miss your chance with a Sprout, you can return to the same spot after dying or praying at a shrine and entering the Dream mode. This resets enemies, including Bamboo Sprouts.
How To Use Bamboo Shoots
Once you gather Bamboo Shoots, you can trade them for useful items or upgrades.
The best place to do this is with the Panda merchant in the cave near the Shu Sanctuary. It’s easy to teleport back there from the shrine.
Travel down toward the river from the sanctuary, as if heading to Doomwillow Beach. Then, turn left and follow the path to the cave, where Panda will sell weapons and magic in exchange for Bamboo Shoots.
