Fishing is one of the most effective ways to provide a steady food supply for your villagers in Sengoku Dynasty. If your village is near any body of water, you can catch a large amount of fish year-round, no matter the season.
While hunting, farming, and various other tasks are important in the game, it’s easy to overlook the value of your fishers. However, by letting them do their work, they’ll not only bring in fish but also gather shells and oil that can be used for advanced crafting.
How to Construct a Fisherman’s Hut in Sengoku Dynasty
Building a Fisherman’s Hut is a bit different from other structures in Sengoku Dynasty; it needs to be partially over water. If your village is entirely surrounded by land, you won’t be able to build one. Fortunately, many areas in the game have water access, especially the coastal Sosogi and Enjiro regions, as well as various rivers in the southern part of the map. Fishing is much more difficult in the mountainous northern regions.
The Fisherman’s Hut is categorized under Production Buildings in the build menu, similar to Foragers and Workshops.
Once it’s finished, the hut provides bedding for one villager, along with a workspace for crafting ropes and nets, as well as an area for fishers to catch fish.
How to Create and Utilize Fishing Nets in Sengoku Dynasty
Fishers require fishing nets to carry out their daily tasks, which can be made at a net workstation by combining four ropes. The simplest way to create ropes is by crafting them from straw at the same workstation.
To make straw, gather grass and place it on a drying rack. Automating this process by having one villager collect grass while another operates the drying rack is ideal. If needed, you can also harvest grass manually using a kama.
Fishing nets can wear out over time and will need to be replaced, but this happens slowly. You can usually create a few nets at a time and store them instead of assigning a villager to constantly make new ones. Just remember to check your supply every few seasons.
Once your Fisherman’s Hut is up and running, and you have at least one fishing net, assign a villager to the workstation and equip them with a net via the Jobs Menu. They should be able to catch several dozen fish each day, which can then be cooked at a hearth or kitchen to boost your village’s food supply. If you don’t require that much fish, your fishers can also gather shells for crafting or convert some fish into oil.
Any fish that go uneaten will eventually spoil, but they can be composted to create fertilizer.
Can You Manually Fish in Sengoku Dynasty?
At this time, players cannot manually catch fish in Sengoku Dynasty. This task must be handled by villagers assigned to it. You can support them by crafting nets and building their workstations, but your role in the fishing process ends there.
