As you wander through the world of Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, you’ll encounter a variety of fascinating characters in each locale. At the Zhelejov Wagoners’ Inn, you’ll find many patrons enjoying their meals and relaxing. Among them are two friends, George and Michael, who are sitting at a table.
These two are engaged in a heated discussion about their passion for art, and they’ll ask for your help in acquiring a lute for their music. This leads you to the Troubadours quest, where you’ll find yourself stealing a lute, dealing with rowdy drunks, and shoveling some unsavory material.
How To Start The Troubadours Quest
To kick off the Troubadours quest, you’ll need to find George and Michael. Look for them in the outdoor section of Zhelejov Wagoners’ Inn, where they sit beneath some shade. Talk to them and listen to their conversation about their poetic aspirations.
Eventually, they’ll bring up a lute and express their desire to get one for their performances. They mention having tried to get a lute from a carpenter in Troskowitz.
They’ll ask you to help retrieve it, stating it’s simply hanging on the wall in the carpenter’s home. However, if you speak with the carpenter, he’ll refuse to let it go, claiming it belongs to a client. Consequently, you’ll need to steal the lute if you want to assist George and Michael.
Where To Find The Carpenter’s Lute
The lute can be found hanging on the wall in a room in the carpenter’s house. As you enter, check the room on the left. The doors are open during the day, but be careful, as it’s easy to be spotted if you attempt to grab the lute. It’s advisable to wait until evening to make your move.
Be aware that guards will be patrolling in the evening. Avoid drawing their attention if you try to steal the lute at night. Remember, wandering around without a lit torch after dark can raise suspicion.
When evening falls, enter the house and pick the lock to the lute’s room. Inside, head to the southwest corner to spot a slight outline of a lute on the wall.
Grab the lute and quietly exit the house.
How To Repair The Broken Lute
When you return to George and Michael with the lute, a drunken character named Drslav will approach, play the lute, and break the strings. Depending on how you interact with him, you may end up fighting him.
After you hit him a few times, he’ll give in. Once the fight ends, he’ll leave, and you can talk to George and Michael again. They’ll request your help in fixing the lute, offering you the choice to end the quest or continue.
If you choose to help, they’ll direct you to the gamekeeper, Vostatek, who lives in a remote area with his family. If you haven’t completed the side quest Lackey, Vostatek will be absent, and you’ll need to rescue him before advancing the Troubadour quest.
Once you’ve rescued Vostatek, you can ask him for help to repair the lute. He’ll request sheep guts to create new strings, which you can get by either hunting sheep or buying them from a butcher.
You can easily buy sheep guts from the butcher in Troskowitz.
Once you have the sheep guts, head back to Vostatek so he can make the new strings. When they’re ready, you can return to George and Michael.
How To Pay Off George And Michael’s Debt
Even after they receive the repaired lute, George and Michael will still be anxious because the innkeeper is supposedly keeping them from leaving until their bill is settled. Unfortunately, the innkeeper isn’t interested in accepting the payment and prefers them to work off their debt.
You can choose to leave them to deal with their situation or help them pay their bill and continue the quest. If you decide to assist them, you’ll need to talk to the innkeeper. He’ll explain that he assigned the two artists some menial tasks that they’ve yet to complete.
You’ll need to persuade the innkeeper to accept money instead, challenge him, or do the work yourself to let George and Michael go free.
Dig Out The Latrine Next To The Outhouse
Your first task is to dig out the latrine filled with waste next to the outhouse located on the east side of the inn. There’s a mound of dirt and a mound of waste beside it.
You’ll need a spade to begin digging. If you don’t have one, you can grab the spade stuck in the ground right next to the outhouse. Use it to dig out the latrine to finish this task.
You can dig out the latrine before talking to the innkeeper. If you do this, a humorous conversation will occur when you speak with him, where he’ll ask what prompted you to dig it up so randomly.
Transfer The Sacks In The Courtyard
Your next task is to move eight sacks from the courtyard to a designated area in a building located northwest of where the sacks are positioned. You’ll need to carry each sack one at a time to finish this task.
Make sure to place each sack in the correct storage. Dropping it on the ground won’t count towards your progress.
After you’ve moved all eight sacks, return to the innkeeper. He’ll agree to release George and Michael. Talk to them to wrap up the quest and enjoy their song of gratitude celebrating your heroic deeds.
