Even with its rocky start and an unclear future, Mortal Kombat 1 continues to introduce fantastic new characters that enhance both the roster and gameplay, with Conan the Barbarian being the latest addition. However, the much-anticipated Pink Ninja, Floyd, has been a constant topic of speculation with each character launch.

After months of rumors and teases from Nether Real Studios, the mysterious Pink Ninja is finally available in the game. Players can encounter Floyd in Mortal Kombat with a chance to unlock an exclusive stage called The Field. The process to unlock this encounter is not straightforward, though!

How to Encounter Floyd

Before gaining access to The Field stage in Mortal Kombat 1, you’ll need to first meet the elusive Pink Ninja, Floyd. This task is more complicated than it appears. To initiate a fight with Floyd, you must complete a number of Floyd Challenges, which vary in difficulty from simple to quite tough.

The twist? You can’t keep track of these Floyd Challenges and won’t see all of them at once. This means you won’t know which challenges you can attempt until you finish them, at which point you’ll receive a notification confirming the Floyd Challenge you completed.

How to Know If You’ve Completed a Floyd Challenge

When you finish a Floyd Challenge, a small pink icon will appear on the left side of your screen with the word ‘Floyd,’ accompanied by a guitar riff in the background. Some challenges might require you to complete the match before showing this icon, while others will pop up as soon as you finish the challenge.

If you attempt a challenge and follow all the steps but don’t see the Pink Icon, then the Floyd Challenge wasn’t active for you, and it’s time to move on to another one. There are numerous Floyd Challenges, so try another, hope for the best, and keep going!

What Are the Floyd Challenges?

Currently, there are 37 Floyd Challenges identified and tested by the Mortal Kombat 1 community through in-game hints and data mining. While playing in Tower modes, Floyd may make an appearance, dropping hints about specific challenges.

While 37 Floyd Challenges may seem overwhelming, you don’t need to complete them all; Floyd usually shows up after finishing around ten of them. You’ll have to experiment and discover which ones you have access to, as this process requires some time and effort. Luckily, you can find all 37 challenges listed in the table below!

You can complete most of the Floyd Challenges in Local Versus Mode against very easy CPUs to make it easier for yourself. Additionally, after you receive a notification for completing one challenge, check back on the previous ones as they may now be active. This will be a lengthy but rewarding mission!

How to Unlock The Field Stage

Now that you understand what the Floyd Challenges entail and how to complete them, you’re one step closer to unlocking the secret The Field stage. Before you can proceed, you must finish several challenges until Floyd appears, prompting a battle.

Once this random encounter occurs, the screen will shatter, giving you three attempts to defeat Floyd. So make sure to make each attempt count! Your manual choice of character during the challenge will decide the first fight against Floyd, although you can switch characters, but it will cost you one of your three chances.

What Happens If You Lose to Floyd?

As mentioned earlier, you have three opportunities to conquer Floyd when he shows up, giving you a chance to learn his fighting style, which incorporates moves from various other Ninjas from the series. However, if you lose all three matches, it will be a significant setback.

Failing to beat Floyd in all three rounds will reset your progress on Floyd Challenges, forcing you to restart the trial-and-error process until he appears again, which will be quite time-consuming. So, if you find yourself pitted against Floyd with an unfamiliar character, it’s wise to use one attempt to switch to a character you’re comfortable with to avoid repeating the entire process.

Unlocking The Field Stage

You might have guessed already: you unlock The Field stage after defeating Floyd. Be sure to give it your all during that encounter if you want to claim victory on your first attempt. Floyd can be a bit tough, so don’t underestimate him, or you might have to go through the whole process again.

Once you defeat Floyd, The Field will be available as a permanent stage for you to select in your future matches, and it’s well worth the effort as it is absolutely stunning. While Floyd will not be a playable character, it’s likely this won’t be the last time you encounter him!
