Today’s Connections Category Hints
February 26 #626
This particular puzzle didn’t present much overlap, at least not initially. It felt more like a matter of connecting enough pieces rather than dealing with many words that crowded the space. Although it may take some time, today’s puzzle won’t be too overwhelming. Even with a lengthy category name, it remains less complex than the one that circled the globe a few days ago. Here are some hints to help you get started:
- One category relates to items that can rise during shortages.
- Another category involves events that have already occurred.
- A third category consists of things made from the same simple structure.
- The final category features four names that have been intentionally misspelled.
If you’re still in need of assistance with this puzzle, I’ve compiled everything you need in the sections below. The category titles will be listed first, followed by the spoilers.

Yellow Answers: Revealed & Explained
This was the second category I identified today, and it was gratifying. There weren’t any real distractions due to other financial terminology, so I didn’t feel overwhelmed. However, it did take a bit of time to compile the category and ensure that all the right words fit. I initially hesitated on the word "charge," as it feels more active than a passive price. Thankfully, it turned out to be correct.
Yellow Answers:
- EXPENDITURE
- CHARGE
- COST
- PRICE
- RATE
Green Answers: Revealed & Explained
I was quite pleased with this category, but I was slightly put off by the formatting of the category name. According to Google, it can be either one word or hyphenated. However, I personally prefer choosing either "past" or "once" or going all in with a fairy tale style. I don’t find “onetime” necessary, and might not use it anytime soon.
Green Answers:
- ONETIME
- FORMER
- LATE
- PAST
- PRIOR
Blue Answers: Revealed & Explained
This was the first category I solved today, which may seem unusual. However, it struck me as quite straightforward once I recognized the terms MINUS and UNDERSCORE. It took me a while to find the last two, and I initially didn’t expect this category to appear so soon.
Blue Answers:
- MADE WITH HORIZONTAL LINES
- DASH
- HYPHEN
- MINUS
- UNDERSCORE
Purple Answers: Revealed & Explained
I sensed something was off with the words in this category, but I wouldn’t have pinpointed their exact relationship. I excel at recognizing hidden connections, but categories with purposely misspelled words are trickier for me. Had any of the earlier categories been even slightly more difficult, I would have found this one much more challenging.
Purple Answers:
- SIMSON FAMILY MEMBERS WITH FIRST LETTER CHANGED
- BAGGIE
- BARGE
- COMER
- PISA
