PS5 System Software Update 26.01-12.70.00 Patch Notes (February 12, 2026)
The official notes state that the update “improves system software performance and stability.” This kind of wording often indicates security patches aimed at preventing jailbreaks and exploits.
That said, sometimes Sony includes unadvertised improvements that players discover over time. If today’s update includes any changes beyond the stated improvements, we’ll share those details with our readers.
To recall, the January 2026 update for the PS5 added a quick way to jump directly from the Welcome Hub’s Friends Activity widget to the games friends are currently playing. It also introduced read receipts to the messaging system, a feature that was rolled out months after its debut on the PS App.
Additionally, update 26.01-12.60.00 brought some usability enhancements.
We will keep our audience informed once more details are available.
