Unlike other pixelated sandbox survival games, in Everwind, you won’t be building a permanent home base. The game embraces the idea that “the sky’s the limit,” so you’ll find yourself spending a lot of time on your airship.
Whether you’re aiming to improve your airship, need tips for passing the time during flights between islands, or want to try farming during the game’s early access period, our guide covers everything to help you make your airship feel more like a home in the sky.
How to Set Up Your Airship Essentials
Once you’ve built the Cockpit, Energy Generator, Wooden Engine, and Wooden Balloon to get started in Everwind, the game will lead you to the nearest available airship to claim. Step onto it, interact with the Flying Ship Core, and the remains will be yours to customize as you fly through the skies in this open-world survival game.
It’s important to know that the Flying Ship Core can’t be moved once the ship is yours. While you can break down and reassemble other parts of your ship anywhere you like, the core is fixed in place.
After claiming your ship, you will respawn at the Cockpit whenever you teleport using the Compass or after dying. Since your main way of exploring is on your airship, there’s little point in building a home on an island, unless you mark it specifically. As you venture farther away, it will feel less practical to respawn on a particular island, and living mainly on your ship becomes the natural choice.
To keep your ship functioning, turn off the Energy Generators when you’re not flying to save fuel. Think of your ship like your vehicle—you wouldn’t leave it idling in a parking lot without reason.
Make your ship look more like your own by customizing it with different blocks and ideas. Upgrading its size allows more space, and building vertically is also an option. Early on, your ship might be just a simple craft made from basic materials, but as you progress, you’ll need more room for additional crafting stations and storage, especially in multiplayer. Once essentials are set, you can decorate and upgrade your ship to your liking. During long flights between islands, it’s smart to set a direction and then disengage from the cockpit to focus on organizing, decorating, cooking meals for exploration, and other activities.
How to Decorate and Build Your Ship
You’re free to decorate your ship as much as you want. There are almost unlimited options for customization, including building dedicated crafting areas, navigation stations, fences for safety, and more. You can turn a basic raft into a fully equipped vessel with custom design and functionality.
Most decorating items are crafted from shared base materials. Recipes for these items can be found in the game’s Compendium, which breaks down into categories like:
- Mechanisms (flying ship parts, pipes, mechanisms)
- Traps (spikes, gas traps, turrets, launchers)
- Containers (chests, dressers, vases, urns, other storage)
- Lighting (fire pits, wall lights, candles)
- Doors & Hatches (normal doors, double doors, gates)
- Seating (stools, chairs, thrones, benches)
- Tables (small, medium, large)
- Beds (bedrolls, single, double, bunkbeds)
- Decorative Objects (fences, flags, statues, banners, gravestones, village objects, emblems, scaffolds, cages, floor grates, tents, mine objects, pillars)
Some items have multiple versions that differ in patterns or style, so don’t be discouraged if you see duplicates.
What Can You Make at the Carpenter Station?

Farming in Everwind
While there is plenty of food on the islands, farming allows you to reliably gather produce for meals, which restore health, stamina, and serve as ingredients in crafting. To start farming, you’ll need:
- At least one wooden pot or better container placed on your ship
- Suitable farm soil matching the environment where your crop grows (e.g., desert soil for cactus)
- A sapling for each pot, depending on the crop type
- Something to water plants, like a bucket of water
Always keep your crops watered, as they tend to rot if neglected. Watering them again can revive crops that begin to decay.
Produce and Their Effects
| Biome | Crops & Effects |
|---|---|
| Forest | Blueberry (Restores 6 HP over 3 seconds), Corn (restores 6 HP), Tangerine (restores 8 HP) |
| Swamp | Wildberries (Poison damage over 15 seconds), Jelly Fruit (restores stamina) |
| Desert | Cactus Fruit (Restores 6 HP over 3 seconds) |
| Rotten | White Baneberry (Poison damage over 15 seconds) |
Farming helps ensure you have fresh ingredients for your recipes and keeps your exploration well-supplied.
