Fallout is a very popular series created by Bethesda and Xbox. It has recently done crossovers with Magic: The Gathering and even has an Amazon TV show. It’s frustrating that there hasn’t been a proper Fallout game for nearly seven years, and it’s been almost ten years since Fallout 76 if you don’t count that. That’s a long wait for fans.
Fortunately, Bethesda is reportedly working on several Fallout games, including a rumored remaster or remake of Fallout 3. Now, there’s news that Fallout 5 has been officially approved and is moving forward in development.
Fallout 5 Development Is Reportedly Moving Forward With An Unknown Studio
This information comes from Microsoft insider Jez Corden, who shared during the latest episode of the Xbox Two podcast that Fallout 5 is greenlit but isn’t sure who exactly is making it. He believes that Bethesda’s main studios are focusing on more DLC for Starfield and The Elder Scrolls 6, as Todd Howard has mentioned that The Elder Scrolls 6 will come out before Fallout 5.
Ideally, this would allow Obsidian Entertainment to return to the Fallout series, since fans really liked Fallout: New Vegas. However, Corden suggests that it’s more likely Microsoft or Bethesda will form a new team just for Fallout, giving the franchise its own resources rather than sharing them with The Elder Scrolls.
Corden has also stated that this information should be taken lightly, as he doesn’t have enough details from his sources to confirm a full story. Bethesda could be working on Fallout 5, they might create a new team for it, or a different developer could be involved. The only thing Corden is certain about is that Fallout 5 is officially in development, so we might have to wait a long time, possibly until 2080, for its release.
