Factions in Outer Worlds 2: A Complete Guide

Select Language:

There are six factions in Outer Worlds 2, each with their own beliefs and people. You can earn a good reputation with some of these groups, which can give you helpful advantages.

If you’re struggling to improve your reputation, you might want to pick up the Outer Worlds 2 perk called Negotiator. It boosts the reputation you gain with all factions by 75%.

Outer Worlds 2 offers a huge universe where you’ll meet various companions and have to decide how to deal with different factions.

Below is a list of all the Outer Worlds 2 factions you can build reputation with, along with details on their political views and how to join them.

Out of the six factions, you can only gain reputation with three:

  • Aunties Choice
  • Order of the Ascendant
  • Sub Rosa

You can also join these groups if they like you enough, but each choice has good and bad points. Here’s what you need to know about them.

Aunties Choice
This faction is based mainly in the city of Fairfield, which you’ll encounter first. To start working with them, go to Kaur or Milverstreet in Outer Worlds 2.

Aunties Choice is a giant corporation that strongly supports consumerism. It’s a very capitalist society that seems bleak beneath the surface, with people eager to climb the corporate ladder. While it looks like you have freedom, constant advertising and scams make true independence impossible. If you want to rise in the corporate world and don’t mind some backstabbing, Aunties Choice is a good fit.

Order of the Ascendant
To join, complete the main mission on Paradise, find the Vox Relay, and then return to your ship. An envoy from the Order will approach you, and you can start building their reputation.

This group aims to understand the universe’s mathematics and predict the future to help humanity ascend by solving what they call the Universal Equation. They’re very logical, often ignoring emotions and human needs, which can cause hardship for some people.

While they might seem cold or ruthless, their main goal is to solve the Universal Equation. If you want to be part of their mission, you can join the Order.

Sub Rosa
To join Sub Rosa, find Emeline Galloway and help her with a request to hide some evidence of their existence.

This faction is all about the underground black market, offering rare items through covert trading. Members usually keep their involvement secret, but once you’re in, you gain access to a variety of unique gear.

You’ll see members in many important locations, marked by a yellow rose with a split black circle. Building reputation here can give you access to good vendors and gear, though joining is optional.

Factions You Can’t Build Reputation With

There are three factions you won’t be able to gain reputation with, but they still influence the game:

  • The Protectorate: A brutal dictatorship led by the inventor of the Skip Drive. They demand loyalty and are considered the main enemies.
  • The Earth Directorate: From the start, you’re a part of this group, which fights against corrupt powers.
  • The Rift Cult: These worship the mysterious Rifts in the universe. You can’t join or gain favor, but you can work with them to learn about the Rifts.
