The Game Awards traditionally wrap up with a major game reveal, but last year’s ending was quite the controversy. Instead of unveiling a new project from an established studio like Naughty Dog and their game Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, we were shown Highguard—a PvP raid shooter developed by the team behind Apex Legends and Titanfall.
Since that reveal, Wildlight Entertainment has been largely quiet, but recent updates suggest promising news for eager fans.
According to a recent tweet from the official Highguard Twitter account, Wildlight will host the Highguard Launch Showcase on Monday, January 26, at 10 a.m. PT—the same day the game is scheduled to launch. The event promises an in-depth look at the game, with a comprehensive gameplay demo, details on plans for the first year, and more.
As of now, Highguard will be available on PC starting January 26. The PlayStation 5 version has been confirmed, but the exact release date remains unannounced, as a PlayStation Store listing has not appeared yet. It’s possible that PS5 players could be surprised with the game’s launch day.
Here’s a quick overview of Highguard for PS5 gamers interested in the multiplayer shooter:
“From the creators of Apex Legends and Titanfall, Highguard is a PvP raid shooter where players become Wardens—arcane gunslingers sent to fight for control of a mythical continent. They’ll clash against rival Warden crews over the Shieldbreaker, then raid and destroy enemy bases to claim territory. This new kind of shooter combines fast-paced combat with strategic team play.”
