When you begin playing Mage Arena, it might seem pretty straightforward since you just cast spells and attack enemies. But there’s more to it than that, especially when it comes to creating different types of soups.
Apart from spells and your torch, there are five basic items you can use, and these items can be turned into soups. Once made, drinking these soups grants you temporary advantages.
Mage Arena is currently in Early Access, so some details might change later.
### How To Make Soup in Mage Arena
When you join a game with friends or in a random match, you’ll spawn in your home tower, which is just a large room with a door and a few items inside. In this room, you’ll notice a big figure sitting near a piece of tree bark. Approaching this figure gives you the option to talk.
If you’re holding any of the five basic items, the figure will instead let you make soup. Interacting with this option makes the figure consume the item, and after a few seconds, you can collect the soup from the Soup Man. The soup is then added to your inventory, but remember, each soup can only be used once.
### Every Soup and What It Does
Once you get your soups, they give your characters different temporary effects:
| Soup Name | Effect |
|—————-|————————————————————————————————|
| Rock Soup | Boosts loudness; after drinking, others can hear you across the map. |
| Log Soup | Adds extra health points (HP). This increased HP is permanent until damaged; it doesn’t regenerate. Once you take damage, the extra HP disappears. |
| Frog Soup | The least useful. It causes your tongue to randomly come out and hit enemies, making them levitate briefly. |
| Crystal Soup | Increases your movement speed for a good amount of time. |
| Mushroom Soup | Lets you jump higher than usual. |
