Every Resource in The King Is Watching
In The King Is Watching, managing resources is key to success. The game offers 14 different resources, each with its own uses. Buildings and units require specific resources, and your choices can create unexpected opportunities or bottlenecks. Most resources have one or two main purposes, with other uses being less common.
Basic Resources
Basic Resources are gathered directly from structures without needing input materials. As long as you can build the necessary structure and keep it active, it will produce resources continually.
Resource | Produced By | Primary Uses |
---|---|---|
Water | Well, Big Well | Building or supplying other resource-producing structures |
Wheat | Small Wheat Field, Wheat Field | Recruiting units, producing Flour, upgrading Gaze area |
Wood | Tree, Sawmill | Construction, making advanced resources, upgrading troop cap |
Ore | Iron Mine | Recruiting warriors, some ranged units |
Gold | Market, Gold Mine | Construction, recruiting units, upgrading Gaze area |
Clay | Clay Mine | Recruiting units, repairing castle damage |
Crystal | Crystal Mine | Spell research, recruiting Arcane units |
Grapes | Grape Bush, Vineyard | Producing Wine, recruiting Veteran units |
Advanced Resources
Advanced Resources must be refined from other goods using specific buildings, or obtained through events or wandering traders. They are rare and costly but enable powerful units and castle upgrades.
Resource | Produced By | Recipe | Primary Uses |
---|---|---|---|
Flour | Mill | 1 Wheat = 1 Flour | Dragon Hatchery, Enchanted Stump, Market sales |
Metal | Forge | 1 Ore = 1 Metal | Veteran/Elite Barracks, Market sales |
Wine | Winery | 2 Grapes = 1 Wine | Boosts morale during battles |
Meat | Fisherman’s Hut, Animal Farm | 5 Water = 1 Meat; or 1 Water + 1 Wheat = 1 Meat | Giant’s Bedding, Lion’s Circus |
Oil | Fuel Pump | 1 Water + 1 Wood = 1 Oil | Advanced infrastructure buildings |
Furniture | Carpentry | 3 Wood + 1 Metal = 1 Furniture | Sold at Market or Furniture Store |
Which Resources Should You Prioritize?
Always aim to stockpile basic resources like Water, Wheat, Wood, Ore, and Gold. Among these, Wheat is usually the most important because it’s needed for recruiting most troops. Running low on wheat can prevent you from strengthening your armies.
Your specific resource needs may change during the game. Keep these tips in mind:
- Focus on resources that support your current build. For instance, if you’re prioritizing certain units, gather the resources they require most.
- Select buildings and troops you can afford with your current resources. For example, having a Fuel Pump is useless if you don’t have Oil production.
- Avoid overcommitting to a single resource. Try to balance a few core resources to stay flexible.
- When unsure, prioritize Metal. It helps build many structures and can be sold for gold if needed. Just ensure your Iron Mines can supply enough Metal.
King Abilities
Each king character in the game has special powers that unlock after defeating certain bosses. These abilities usually consume resources, so it’s smart to prepare your economy to meet their needs.
