The Dark Skies event is now live in Pokémon GO, with a focus on lots of Max Battle opportunities. Running from Monday, August 18, through Saturday, August 23, this event is part of the buildup to the GO Fest Max Finale. Players can expect various rewards for participating, including the chance to unlock new Pokémon and participate in special raids.
During this event, trainers will have the chance to take part in countless Max Battles, find new Pokémon spawning, and enjoy various bonuses throughout the week. A special feature is the debut of a Pokémon that’s making its worldwide appearance for the first time. This event is also important for players aiming to catch every Dynamax Pokémon available.
Dark Skies Bonuses and Highlights
Global Pokémon Debut
One of the biggest highlights is the worldwide debut of Eternatus, a Pokémon that was previously only seen at local in-person events. When you log into Pokémon GO during the event, you’ll receive a GO Pass: Max Finale, which includes an encounter with Eternatus among its rewards.
Increased Power Spots and Raid Limits
As usual with weekly events, there are more active Power Spots than usual, and they refresh daily. The daily limit for collecting Max Particles has been increased to 1,600, and remote raid pass limits are also boosted to 30.
Raid Battles and Featured Pokémon
Return of Galar Legends
Two Galar region legends are making a comeback in raids. From August 18 to 20, players can battle Zacian and Zamazenta. On August 21, Zacian will be available again, and on August 22, Zamazenta will return. Additionally, the event features some shiny Pokémon in raids, giving trainers the chance to catch rare shiny variants.
Raids with Special Pokémon
In 1-star raids, you will find Sinistea. For 3-star raids, Galarian Farfetch’d and Galarian Weezing will be available. These Pokémon are part of the event’s focus on Dynamax Battles, which will showcase over 30 different Dynamax Pokémon.
Max Battles and Dynamax Pokémon
The main attraction of Dark Skies is the chance to engage in Max Battles featuring three rotating sets of Pokémon, including some Legendary Pokémon in their Dynamax forms—some of which have only appeared once before. The event also features the return of various Dynamax Pokémon at different difficulty levels, providing plenty of challenges for players.
