Getting started in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 can be challenging because Henry has specific goals, yet he also needs money, food, and a place to stay. Instead of diving into the main quest, it’s best to focus on gathering supplies and earning some cash. After that, you can explore options like getting a horse and accepting side quests to prepare for the wedding and the main storyline. If you’re unsure where to begin after you’ve stepped outside of Troskowitz, I’ve put together a list of priorities to help you kick off your journey smoothly.
Key Initial Steps in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2
To kick things off, I suggest reading some general tips and tricks for Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. However, if you’re looking for specific tasks and quests to tackle right after you escape from the pillory, here’s a recommended list of actions you can take in this order:
- Talk to Bara about Tomcat. This will initiate the Combat Training 1 side quest and teach you the basics of swordplay.
- Request help from Bara. Inquire about money, and she’ll hand you 5 groschen. Ask about clothing, and by stating you need armor, you can obtain a lockpick from her. Use this to steal some armor from Troskowitz Rathaus. If you pre-ordered, don’t forget to chat with scribe Gaibl to start the The Lion’s Crest quest for the Brunswick armor.
- Go to Tachov and talk to blacksmith Radovan. Tachov is a short walk northwest of Troskowitz. Find Radovan to start the “A Blacksmith’s Son” quest. He’ll be impressed by your efforts and will let you stay in his spare room, which includes a chest for storing any Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Collector’s Edition items. Remember to sleep here to save your progress.
- Once you’ve saved, consider playing some dice games in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 to try your luck with your groschen. Also, grab some food while you’re at it, but save as much as you can.
- Inquire if Radovan has more work to unlock The Jaunt quest. We’ll revisit this quest soon, but starting now will be beneficial since you’ll eventually need to go to Semine.
- Navigate west to the Combat Training 1 quest marker, passing through Zhelejov and the wagoners’ inn. These locations are handy for fast travel, and you can pick up additional side quests along the way.
- Complete Combat Training 1 and 2 with Tomcat to unlock the Master Strike technique. It’s wise to save before battling Tomcat, so you can reload easily if you lose.
- Continue to Semine to progress The Jaunt quest. This will allow you to acquire a horse in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.
- Head to the quarry near Trosky Castle and retrieve the money stash. After finishing The Jaunt, ride to the castle north of Troskowitz to collect over 500 groschen.
- Return to Troskowitz and buy the Marigold Decoction recipe from the apothecary. This will enable you to brew healing potions.
Feel free to adjust this approach based on your own preferences and play style — it might take you several hours to complete everything, but following this guide should set you up well for the adventures ahead. Starting your journey with the blacksmith will also help you later in the Wedding Crashers quest, and you can always return to the Lower Semine Mill later to pick up miller Kreyzl’s path into the wedding.
