If you’re searching for a game that offers various character roles and diverse build options, Crystal of Atlan could be your ideal choice. The game features numerous classes, each branching into multiple subclasses early on, allowing for different play styles.

The Magister class excels at crowd control (CC), but you might find it lacking in damage during the initial levels. It begins to really flourish once you can specialize into a subclass, where the crowd control still shines but the damage output also improves significantly.

Magister Class Overview

The core abilities of the Magister are designed for medium-range engagements, focusing more on crowd control rather than inflicting damage. While it does deal some damage, expect it to take longer to defeat foes compared to other classes in the beginning.

However, the true strength of the Magister lies in its crowd control capabilities, especially after selecting a subclass that allows for increased damage.

Tips for Mastering Crowd Control

Understand how your abilities manipulate enemy positioning, and practice rotating them to keep foes on their back foot. If you can maintain this rotation and effectively manage cooldowns, you’ll find yourself rarely in danger while battling minions.

Key Stats for a Magister

Every variation of the Magister will primarily deal Magical Damage, thus Intelligence and Spirit should be your main focus.

In the case of the Warlock subclass, which tends to operate at closer range, it’s also wise to invest in Physique to bolster your health.

Playing as an Elementalist

Elementalists rely heavily on their Thundercores, which are generated by specific skills and passive abilities acquired later in the skill tree. These Thundercores automatically damage enemies while you attack, effectively boosting your overall damage output.

Essential Early Skills for Elementalists

The initial skills for an Elementalist will likely feel quite similar to those of the Magister class, but they are crucial for your development even if you’ll replace them later.

Skill Description
Thundercore A passive skill that introduces you to using Thundercores.
Thunderbolt Bird Summons two electric birds that deal damage and slow enemies.
Punishment of Frost Creates a damaging area that inflicts significant damage.
Lord of Thunder Instantly summons six Thundercores and boosts your chances of generating more.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Being an Elementalist

As an Elementalist, you’ll find it easy to maintain distance from enemies while dealing significant damage. Many of your skills are designed to keep foes at bay, either through range or crowd control.

On the downside, the base damage of an Elementalist is not as high as the Warlock or Magister, making it somewhat more challenging to achieve high damage outputs without careful play.

Playing as a Warlock

Warlocks operate at a much closer range, making them fundamentally different from Elementalists. They can deliver high damage more easily but may struggle with effective crowd control.

A lot of a Warlock’s increased damage potential comes from the Resentful Curse mechanism. Hitting enemies with many of their skills applies stacks of this curse, which can later explode for damage.

Key Early Skill for Warlocks

Skill Description
Demonmark Burst Detonates the stacks of Resentful Curse on an enemy, dealing heavy damage.
Corrupted Crows Sends multiple crows towards an enemy, applying damage and a stack of Resentful Curse.
Gift of the Raven Allows you to move backward while ravens attack enemies, applying multiple stacks of Resentful Curse.
Dim Soulblast/Punishment Hits and lifts enemies, with the upgraded version applying Resentful Curse stacks.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Being a Warlock

As a Warlock, you have the potential for substantial damage output. By strategically using your abilities, you can spread Resentful Curse among multiple enemies, enabling significant bursts of damage.

However, Warlocks need to be in close proximity to foes, which adds a level of risk to your gameplay. You’ll have to be adept at knowing when to engage and when to pull back to avoid overwhelming situations.

Playing as a Magician

Magicians are remarkable damage dealers capable of inflicting massive damage. This class is known for its flashy abilities that set it apart from its counterparts.

The Magician utilizes a hand of cards, where each suit provides specific buffs that activate during attacks and skill use. By maintaining a good rotation of skills and basic attacks, you continue stacking these buffs.

Important Early Skills for Magicians

Skill Description
Bouncing Magic Ball Launches three bouncing balls that deal substantial damage.
Swarm of Bats Sends bats that damage and crowd-control enemies.
Body Double Turns you invisible and creates a decoy.
Phantom Stride A movement skill that also inflicts damage.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Being a Magician

While not as close-range focused as the Warlock, Magicians require good positioning and smart use of survivability tools. Consistent rotation of abilities is crucial for maximizing damage. However, rushing through skills can lead to periods of lower damage output.
