A Helldivers 2 Warbond Token, often confusingly shown as a pink or purple skull (actually magenta!), can be used to get a free Warbond. However, this benefit is only available if you’re a Super Citizen or meet some specific, slightly confusing criteria.
There isn’t much explanation about this in Helldivers 2 itself. The only hints are a brief message from the Ministry of Prosperity and a pink skull that pops up—serving as the only sign that you possess a token. To clarify how the Warbond Token works in Helldivers 2, here’s what you need to know: how to get one and how to use it.
How to Obtain a Helldivers 2 Warbond Token
If you don’t have a Warbond Token, and you’re wondering how to get one, the current answer is simple—there’s no way to unlock or purchase these tokens separately in the game. The only way to get a single token is by purchasing the Super Citizen Edition of Helldivers 2 or by upgrading to the Super Citizen if you already own the base game.
The only other way you might qualify for a Warbond Token is if you bought the Helldivers 2 Steeled Veterans Warbond using Super Credits before purchasing the Super Citizen Upgrade, did so before August 26, 2025 (the date when the token was added to the Super Citizen Edition and Upgrade), and didn’t claim 1,000 Super Credits as reimbursement. For specifics, check Arrowhead’s official FAQ page about Warbond Tokens to clear up any confusion.
That means players who got the Super Citizen Edition early on, during the Galactic War, aren’t eligible for a Warbond Token—they’re simply out of luck.
How to Know if You Have a Warbond Token
If you meet the criteria above, you should have received a Warbond Token. Arrowhead confirmed on September 3, 2025, that all eligible players should have gotten theirs by then. But there isn’t a specific icon or indicator in the game to show you. The only sign is an unexpected popup message saying, “Issued by the Ministry of Prosperity,” along with that pink/purple skull—the Warbond Token.
If you missed that message, the way to check is by opening the in-game Acquisitions menu while using your Super Destroyer ship. Look at the premium Warbonds you don’t own yet. If the button in the lower right says “Claim Premium Warbond” instead of “Buy Premium Warbond,” you’ve got a Warbond Token ready to use.
How to Use a Warbond Token in Helldivers 2
To spend your Warbond Token, pick any premium Warbond you haven’t unlocked yet from the Acquisitions menu. Then follow the prompts to unlock it for free, skipping the usual cost of 1,000 Super Credits.
However, you can’t use your Warbond Token on Legendary Warbonds, which means you cannot unlock the Helldivers 2 Halo ODST Warbond with it. Otherwise, you’re free to spend your single Warbond Token on any other premium Warbond, and our guide can help you choose the best options.
After using your token, you’ll need to gather more Super Credits—either earned through missions or purchased with real money—to unlock additional Warbonds the normal way.
Using your Warbond Token on a good Warbond can help you craft some of the best gear and loadouts for Helldivers 2, especially for tackling the toughest challenges on higher difficulties.
