In Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero, the ability to deflect and reflect Ki Blasts and beams is vital for your defensive strategy. This technique requires careful timing to redirect enemy energy blasts back at them or simply deflect them away. Mastery of these skills not only protects you from your opponent’s relentless attacks but also makes you a formidable challenger in battles, making it essential to learn these moves.

While the concept of deflecting Ki Blasts may seem straightforward, executing it effectively demands precise timing and an understanding of the proper controls. It might initially appear challenging, but with practice, you’ll find it manageable. Evasion is always an option, but it’s generally more efficient to deflect blasts since Ki travels at high speeds. Perfecting these techniques contributes significantly to the excitement of the game.

Deflecting beams in Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero is easier than it seems. When you notice a beam coming your way, activate Super Perception. You can do this by holding the Circle button on the PlayStation DualSense, B button on Xbox controllers, or Q on the keyboard. For classic setups, use B + Y on Xbox and Circle + Triangle on PlayStation; on PC, use Q + E.

It’s important to note that Super Perception won’t work on Ultimate Blasts, and it will continuously drain your Ki as long as it’s activated. For beams that have noticeable animations as they charge, you might want to start using Super Perception during that animation for a sure-fire deflection. You can also perform a High Speed Evasion by pressing R1 or RB on the standard PlayStation and Xbox configurations, or O or B on their classic setups. This approach can be particularly useful when facing tough AI opponents.

If you’re struggling with the timing, hold the Super Perception button as soon as you see your opponent start the beam attack to ensure a successful deflection.

To get better at deflecting Ki Beams in Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero, head into training mode and choose a character with a long Ki Beam attack, such as a Kamehameha.

Once in a match, adjust the settings by maximizing your Ki Gauge and Skill Count Bar. Then, navigate to Opponent Settings and set their Strategy to Defense Strategy: Blasts. This will cause them to back away from you and fire Ki Beams. This practice method is a great way to perfect your timing for deflecting Ki Blasts and you can observe examples of this technique in action in the video from SlinkyCloud.

How to Reflect Ki Blasts in Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero

To successfully reflect or deflect Ki Blasts in Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero, timing is key. Unlike beams, Ki Blasts can be sent back. To deflect a Ki Blast, you simply need to hold down the guard button as the blast comes at you. This will allow you to redirect any incoming blast. To reflect it back toward your opponent, press the guard button just as the blast is about to hit you.

If you find reflecting challenging, you’re better off focusing on deflecting; it’s the simpler option.

Reflecting requires more precise timing, and a mistake can leave you vulnerable to Ki Blasts. To engage your guard, hold the R1 button on PlayStation DualSense, the RB button on Xbox controllers, or E on the keyboard. For classic setups, use B on Xbox and Circle on PlayStation, while PC users can stick with E. Ideally, reflecting Ki Blasts back at opponents is the best strategy, so aim for that whenever possible.

For practicing deflecting and reflecting Ki Blasts in Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero, head to training mode. You can select any character, then access the settings to maximize their Ki Gauge and Skill Count Bar. Next, go into Opponent Settings and choose Balanced Strategy: Ki Blasts for your opponent. This will prompt them to back away and launch Ki Blasts, allowing you to practice your timing for both deflection and reflection.
