Location quests can often be a bit tedious in video games, but Dragon Age: The Veilguard offers a refreshing change, especially compared to Inquisition. Instead of navigating through numerous locations scattered across various maps, the quest for the Dalish spirits is straightforward and manageable in a single playthrough. You’ll likely find yourself grateful to Bioware for not making you invest countless hours into this specific side mission.
In your journey to locate the spirits, you’ll venture into the Arlathan Forest, which offers a healthy dose of experience points. Additionally, you’ll earn strength points with the Veil Jumpers, a faction residing in the same forest. It’s also in this area where you’ll encounter Bellara, a potential romantic partner. With a little know-how, this quest can be completed quickly.
How to Start the Spirits of the Dalish Quest
Begin with Making the Spirits Happy
To kick off the Spirits of the Dalish quest, progress through the main story of Dragon Age: The Veilguard until you complete the Sea of Blood quest. After that, return to the Lighthouse and tackle An Unfamiliar Sense, Harding’s companion quest. Completing this step is essential; without it, you won’t access the Rite at the conclusion of the mission.
During that companion quest, you will find yourself in Arlathan Forest for a significant part of the story. Once you’ve completed that section, head to the docks and search the shipwreck to locate a spirit. For a detailed guide on how to find it, check out No-Nonsense Guides on YouTube. Engaging with that spirit will officially start the Spirits of the Dalish quest. Also, ensure that Bellara is in your party, as her presence is necessary for completing the Rite. Collecting all the mementos is akin to hunting for the Wolf Statuettes throughout Dragon Age: The Veilguard; it’s a scavenger hunt of sorts.
All Spirits of the Dalish Memento Locations
First Location – Halla Statuette
Navigate to the center of the Arlathan Forest in Dragon Age: The Veilguard to discover a wolf statue. Behind this statue, you’ll find a downhill pathway. Follow it carefully to avoid dangers. You’ll encounter some deceased Halla; from there, turn right to see a large stone. Approach this stone and investigate it to claim the Halla Statuette.
Warning: This area is prone to falling rocks, so watch out to avoid becoming a casualty like the previous owners of the Halla Statuette.
Second Location – Burned Bodies
From the last memento location, head east on the map towards the south side where there’s a chest. You’ll spot a beautiful, yet dilapidated bridge. Beneath this bridge, a lake holds some wrecked boats. Follow the path made by the boats to locate the burned bodies.
Third Location – Neatly Folded Note
Travel to the northern part of the map, which is directly above where you found the last memento. Look for an archway emitting a blue aura in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Head toward the side of the arch that doesn’t lead to any other light sources. You’ll find a cave with a chest inside. Explore it to find two deceased bodies; examining them will reveal the Neatly Folded Note.
Fourth Location – Blood Splattered Journal
From the previous memento, go west and then south, veering left as soon as you can to find this next memento in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Approach the massive castle entrance, but instead of entering, navigate past it towards the roots on the stairs. Ascend the stairs to find the Blood Splattered Journal.
Fifth Location – Ripped Page
Return to where you began your quest in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, located in the center of the map. Proceed to the area to the north, which is square-shaped. Enter this square and make your way to the southwest corner, where you’ll find what resembles a ritual sacrifice area. The Ripped Page will be situated in the center of this area.
How to Complete the Rite
To wrap up this quest in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, head back to your starting point and converse once more with the spirit. After she vanishes, turn around and proceed to the area behind the owl statue, where there’s a breakable wall. Harding should be able to open it, allowing Bellara to manipulate a diamond-shaped artifact inside. Next, climb past the diamond object and jump through the portal at the end of the path. Follow the short corridor, then interact with the coffin to complete your journey.
