Disney Dreamlight Valley has launched a new expansion pass titled The Storybook Vale. This latest addition introduces new critters for players to befriend, including a charming owl. The expansion is rolled out in two parts, with the first installment currently available and the second set to release later. The Storybook Vale brings a wealth of fresh gameplay, featuring new Disney characters to meet and befriend, three stunning biomes to explore and personalize, as well as a rich assortment of new recipes, forageable ingredients, and fish to catch.

Where to Find Owls

Found in a Specific Biome

Owls are the primary critters of The Storybook Vale, particularly in The Bind biome. There are four unique types of owls you can befriend: a Brown Owl, a Purple Owl, a Dark Owl, and a Light Owl. Each owl type appears at different times and locations within The Bind. Brown Owls can be spotted in the Library of Lore at any time during weekdays.

Purple Owls are active between midnight and 9 AM, while Dark Owls can be found in the Library of Lore on Saturdays and Sundays at any hour. Light Owls are present every day from 3 PM to 8 PM.

What to Feed Owls to Befriend Them

What’s an Owl’s Favorite Treat?

To win over an owl’s trust in The Storybook Vale, you can feed them any type of grain. Wheat is accessible in the base game of Disney Dreamlight Valley and grows quickly, but owls have a particular fondness for barley. Barley seeds are available for purchase at Goofy’s Stall in The Bind for $15 and can also be used in several recipes related to the The Storybook Vale DLC.

Each type of owl is approachable and can be befriended through food, although the time required to gain their friendship varies. Brown and Purple Owls are the easiest, taking just two days of feeding before you can unlock them as companions. In contrast, Dark and Light Owls require a bit more time, needing four days to befriend.

Feeding the owls in The Bind can also yield rewards such as Dream Shards, Pine Cones, Decals, and Memory Shards. Since owls are among the more straightforward critters to befriend, players will find it relatively easy to add them to their companions list in Disney Dreamlight Valley. However, given that the befriending process can take anywhere from two to four days, players should make the most of their time by completing other tasks in the game while waiting for the owls to warm up to them.
