In the game Split Fiction, as you navigate through the adventures of Mio and Zoe, you and your co-op partner can explore optional side stories. These Side Stories, crafted by either Mio or Zoe, are entirely optional but enrich your understanding of the characters and enhance your gaming experience.
Aside from being enjoyable, collecting all achievements in Split Fiction requires you to complete 12 Side Stories spread across four chapters. The initial story segment introduces the first side story, but for the rest, you’ll need to stray from the main path throughout the various chapters if you aim to finish them all.
All Side Story Locations In Chapter 2: Neon Revenge
Legend of The Sandfish, Farmlife, & Mountain Hike
Chapter 1 serves as an introduction to Rader Publishing and the main characters. In Split Fiction, you’ll get a brief glimpse into Mio’s Sci-Fi settings and Zoe’s Fantasy realms while unveiling some core abilities that persist throughout the game, no matter the level.
The first side story is located in the Neon Revenge chapter, and unlike the others, you will be guided to it directly. After a short cutscene to set the scene, you can choose to engage with it. While not necessary to finish the game, completing these side stories will help you unlock achievements tied to them.

The first portal is storyline-locked and will be pointed out by Mio and Zoe with a quick cutscene, so it can’t be missed. |
|
Farmlife |
Transform into pigs with unique abilities while discovering how sausage is made. Note: two achievements are tied to this story: Goin’ Whole Hog (interact with the sleeping pig as Mio) and Huffing & Puffing (blow down the houses of the three little pigs). |
Streets of Neon |
After a chase scene, where the garage door blows up and traps Mio and Zoe, head up the stairs on the right to find a platform with a sign reading “Porcus Bank” behind a fence. Use a grapple to reach the side story. |
|
Mountain Hike |
Navigate through a world of giants who will help you reach your goal. |
Big City Life |
After landing in the carpool, continue along your path until you see a bench. Use the grapple on a passing car to be dropped in front of the Gemini Imperium Hotel. This story is easy to miss; it’s on a platform behind you. You can reach it by having Zoe throw Mio, who will be inside a porta-potty, to the platform, where Mio can then lower the ladder for Zoe. |
Upon finishing a Side Story, you’ll return to the portal you entered, and it will vanish, ensuring you won’t miss anything in the main chapter.
All Side Story Locations In Chapter 3: Hopes Of Spring
Train Heist, Gameshow, & Collapsing Star
Once you enter Zoe’s first chapter, you can tackle three new side stories. Unlike Mio’s chapters, where all side stories belonged to her, you’ll now be seeking out three from Mio.
Each chapter’s side stories will be tied to the opposing character and genre, offering a fresh break within the chapter.

Train Heist |
Race through various levels to thwart a sci-fi train heist and confront the conductor. |
Lord Evergreen |
During the segment where Mio swims while Zoe holds onto a stick, Zoe must jump onto another stick while Mio retrieves her. Afterward, you’ll find a landing platform for Zoe on the right. The side story portal can be seen on a ledge above; both characters need to wall run to access it. |
|
Gameshow |
Join a bomb-themed game show where teamwork is key to avoid detonations. An achievement, Cold Potato, can be earned by completing the side story without any explosions. |
Walking Stick of Doom |
After Zoe navigates the environment while Mio swims, you’ll transition back to dry land. Cross the bridge, and at the left turn, you’ll spot a purple glowing structure containing the portal. |
|
Collapsing Star |
With the sun on the brink of destruction, work together to evade danger while managing to avoid pulsating solar flares. |
Halls of Ice |
As you navigate through the ice castle, complete a block puzzle together and access the next area where Mio must go underwater to launch a ball for Zoe to break a window. When you grapple back inside, the portal will be directly across from you. |
The Side Stories will share a similar look: a large glowing portal, and they often slightly extend into the surrounding chapter, making them easier to spot.
If the portal is within view, Mio or Zoe will usually mention it, so keep an eye out. If it’s out of sight, exploring is recommended.
For instance, if you’re in one of Mio’s sci-fi cities and notice an odd area with grass and trees, there’s likely a side story portal close by.
All Side Story Locations In Chapter 4: Final Dawn
Kites, Moon Market, & Notebook
Returning to Mio’s world for Chapter 4, you’ll find the last three of Zoe’s side stories. If you happen to miss one, you can easily return to the chapter in Split Fiction from the main menu.

Toxic Tumblers |
After the gun upgrade section, navigate across spinning cylinders filled with toxic waste. Before turning left to progress, continue straight across more spinning cylinders to find the side story portal. |
|
Moon Market |
In a mystical market, find three cat spirits to unlock a gate. There are two achievements: Potion Chef (complete each potion recipe) and Chair The Load (turn Mio or Zoe into a chair and sit on them). |
Test Chamber |
After defeating the Factory Warden boss, climb the ladder near their fallen form. Clear debris to reach a vent, then activate machines that will raise platforms for you. Proceed until you a spinning platform leads you straight to the side story portal behind a door. |
|
Notebook |
Explore Zoe’s notebook as she develops new ideas that change during gameplay. |
Soaring Desperados |
Shortly after defeating the Overseer boss, you’ll acquire jetpacks. When outside, navigate past a large pipe with a spinning blade to find a small island with a glowing paper-crafted house—this houses the portal for the last side story in this chapter. |
The option to select checkpoints is especially handy during Mio’s segments, as Zoe’s side stories are often easier to overlook; those are usually the ones you’ll need to revisit. Also, watch out for hidden easter eggs in Split Fiction‘s side stories.
All Side Story Locations In Chapter 5: Rise Of The Dragon Realm
Slopes of War, Space Escape, & Birthday Cake
Chapter 5 isn’t the final chapter of Split Fiction, but it features the last of the side stories. Similar to previous chapters, there are three to find, and if you miss any, you can always return to complete them.

Escape a space station set to blow up by making your way to an escape pod. |
Craft Temple |
Post-Dragon Slayer boss fight, head along the intended route outside and turn right. The glowing side story portal will be directly in front of you. Use Zoe’s dragon to hit a gong and raise a platform for Mio to reach the entry. |
|
Birthday Cake |
Explore a whimsical land of sweets where you must fend off an evil dentist. |
Treasure Temple |
After being dropped by the Dragon Soul, ride until you find a golden archway adorned with flags. Turn left before entering; a small island with candy and a rainbow will lead you to the side story portal. |
Completing the last side story in Chapter 5 will reward you with the Bookworms Achievement. After this, you can proceed to Chapter 6, where Split Fiction shifts focus away from the previous chaotic fun and delves deeper into the main narrative surrounding Rader and Rader Publishing.
