Destiny 2’s annual Guardian Games event is back, and it’s packed with exciting updates. Guardians will now face off in a new playlist called Rushdown, which challenges your fireteam to take down a series of campaign and seasonal bosses. You’ll battle formidable foes like Savathun, the Eye of Riven, Ghaul, and many more.
Winning will earn you medallions that you can deposit at the Tower, contributing to your class’s score and earning you exclusive rewards. This year’s Guardian Games features a powerful Trace Rifle, Heavy GL, and more. Let’s explore how the event functions, how to earn medals, and a brief overview of the rewards available.
What Is Guardian Games?
The Guardian Games is an in-game event happening from March 11 to April 1. During this time, all three classes will compete to achieve high scores in Guardian Games activities. The class that accumulates the most medals by the end of the event will be crowned the overall winner. A podium in the Tower will celebrate the winning class for the entire year.
Essentially, the Guardian Games introduces a PvE boss rush mode alongside a version of the PvP Supremacy playlist. Throughout the event, you’ll earn medallions by completing activities while equipped with the provided Guardian Games class item. You can bank these medals at the Tower for exclusive weapons, mementos, and it’s also an excellent way to collect upgrade materials if you’re in need.
Best In Class Quest Walkthrough

Upon logging in, your first step will be to talk to Eva Levante in the Tower. She is your main contact for temporary events in Destiny 2, including the Guardian Games. Eva will give you the “Best in Class” quest to set you on your path. Be sure to equip the class item she provides to start earning medallions, the unique currency for this event.
Contender Cards And Medals
After acquiring your class item, Eva’s shop will open up, offering a variety of bounties and short-term quests known as Contender Cards. Each card will require you to complete objectives in the specific playlist it corresponds with. For example, a Strike Contender Card may ask you to clear three Strikes in Vanguard Ops.
Contender Cards are essential for earning high-tier medals during the Guardian Games. Tougher cards yield better medals.
Completing a Contender Card earns you a medallion, which you can exchange at the podium behind Eva in the Tower. The more medallions you bank, the greater your rewards. There are five medal types: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond. Bronze and Silver medals generally come from regular activities, while Gold and higher are obtained through Contender Cards, with Diamond Medals capped at weekly collections.
You can track your current medals in the Medallion Case within your Quests tab. You can hold up to five of each medal type at a time, so make sure to visit the Tower to claim your rewards before you reach your limit. These medals also impact your class’s standing in the event; to help your class win, aim to bank as many as possible.
Contender Card Types

You can only hold one Gold, Platinum, and Diamond Contender Card at a time, and Diamond Cards can be completed only twice a week.

Rushdown Playlist

New to this year’s Guardian Games is the Rushdown activity, a PvE boss rush that functions similar to last year’s Pantheon event. Your team needs to defeat five bosses within a set time limit. The quicker you clear the challenge, the more points you earn. Bosses will include campaign figures like Savathun and seasonal adversaries from past events.
Some bosses will have rally flags allowing you to replenish your ammo and abilities, but these won’t be available in every fight, requiring you to manage your resources wisely to achieve a top score. Additionally, health bars will be visible for all bosses in this activity to aid in damage tracking.
Rushdown will be divided into three playlists:
- Practice: A risk-free playlist to test builds and earn low-tier medals.
- Rushdown: The core playlist with various combat modifiers and challenges.
- Expert Rushdown: Similar to the main playlist but with increased difficulty.
If PvE isn’t your thing or you’re looking for a change, there’s also a Supremacy Guardian Games playlist available throughout the event. You can use that to earn medals and complete event challenges.
Guardian Games 2025 Event Challenges

This year’s Guardian Games presents 16 event-specific challenges you can complete. Upon finishing all challenges, you will earn the Champ title and several event-exclusive rewards.
You can track your progress towards the event challenges through your Quests tab anytime.
