The Inhuman Bondage DLC for Darkest Dungeon 2 introduces a unique hero known as the Abomination, a character that oscillates between human and beast forms. This formidable champion employs powerful abilities, particularly in his Beast form, where moves like Rake increase in damage with every use. In his human state, he utilizes the Manacles skill, allowing him to strike an enemy while dragging them forward, which also removes a Crit and Strength token while applying a Combo token.
However, the Abomination’s true potential is unlocked only after collecting all of his Shrines of Reflection, which enhance his skills. If you’re playing in the Kingdoms mode of Darkest Dungeon 2, this aspect won’t be as significant, but if you’re focused on Confessions mode, it’s crucial.
Darkest Dungeon 2: Overcoming All Abomination Shrines of Reflection
Some Challenges Are Simpler Than Others
Chapters 1, 3, and 5 mainly focus on the storyline, so while they are intriguing as narrative content, they don’t require much guidance. In contrast, Chapters 2 and 4 can pose some difficulties.
Chapter 2: The Antidote Elusive
In this chapter, collect a variety of ingredients by choosing the Gather Ingredient option and then use the Consume Concoction ability. Don’t stress over finding the perfect mix; the specifics aren’t critical. Eventually, the Abomination will utter, “Was it enough? It’ll have to be…” before collapsing. Completing this chapter unlocks the Absolution skill—an essential tool for managing his Stress and health.
Chapter 4: Mark of the Beast
In this segment, utilize the Manacles skill to pull an opponent forward. Ensure that the position you pull them into allows you to follow up with Backlash, which targets the first two ranks. Once you eliminate one enemy, repeat the process with the next. Use the Absolution skill if your health runs low. As you approach a critical state, activate RESIST! and continue spamming Rake until you prevail. While Rage is available for healing, it won’t generally be necessary. Instinct can help reposition enemies to the front lines, but focusing on Rake is often sufficient. In this part, enemies that are Stunned should not be prioritized.
Upon finishing this chapter, you’ll gain access to Transform, Rake, Rage, and Instinct, each skill being impactful, though Rage and Instinct might see use in specific circumstances.
Finding Shrines of Reflection in Darkest Dungeon 2
Scouting Matters
To uncover the Shrines of Reflection and activate new skills in Darkest Dungeon 2, navigate through the various regions in Confessions mode. As you explore, keep an eye out for Bell icons on your map. When you visit these locations, you can select the character you want to develop further and initiate a Chapter.
To expedite your search, focus on finding Watchtowers on the region maps by looking for the respective icon. Additionally, prioritize items that boost Location Scouting from the provisioner and general looting efforts. Combining Watchtowers with Location Scouting will significantly enhance your chances of locating shrines in Darkest Dungeon 2, although they should be relatively easy to find anyway.
With the Abomination’s skills and abilities fully unlocked, you can maximize his effectiveness in your game strategy.
