The eagerly awaited Cyberpunk 2077 PS5 Pro update has been released, weighing in at nearly 8 GB. Although details about the update had circulated beforehand, CD Projekt RED has now officially published the patch notes, which are outlined below.
Cyberpunk 2077 PS5 Pro update patch notes (April 8, 2026):
-
Introduces support for PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), an AI-driven upscaling technology designed specifically for PlayStation 5 Pro. This process involves rendering images at a lower resolution and then employing PSSR to upscale them, resulting in high performance without sacrificing visual quality.
-
Adds optimized ray-traced object queries and enhances the ray-tracing cache, helping to minimize shadow popping issues.
-
Implements BVH8 (8-way Bounding Volume Hierarchy) to boost the efficiency and performance of ray-traced lighting, shadows, and reflections.
-
Integrates the Variable Rate Shading (VRS) algorithm for more efficient and optimized shading effects.
-
Introduces three distinct graphics modes:
-
Ray Tracing Mode: Activates ray-traced reflections on vehicle paint, transparent surfaces, and all shadows, maintaining a stable 60 FPS. This mode is set as the default and is recommended for optimal gameplay on PlayStation 5 Pro.
-
Performance Mode: Focuses on smooth gameplay with targets of 60 FPS on standard displays and up to 90 FPS on VRR-compatible screens.
-
Ray Tracing Pro Mode: Adds advanced ray-traced skylight, emissive lighting, and ambient occlusion. Runs at approximately 40 FPS on high-refresh-rate displays (HFR), or about 30 FPS on screens without HFR support.
