For many players, decorating their islands in Pokémon Pokopia is one of the most fun parts of the game. With lots of items and open space across different environments, it feels like a blank canvas ready for creativity. Being able to customize everything—houses, furniture, and more—in any color you want makes this feature even more enjoyable. It allows players to express their style freely and adds a new layer of fun to the game.
Pokémon Pokopia is an open-world simulation game that lets players build structures, change the terrain, and craft numerous items. Working with your Pokémon friends to turn this once-worn land into a beautiful place can keep you entertained for hours. The ability to customize and personalize adds to the excitement and keeps the game fresh.
Smearguru Has All the Paint Knowledge
You’ll find the Pokémon artist Smearguru working hard in a small hut at Bleak Beach, constantly painting. It may take some time before Smearguru offers you a quest that leads to customization skills. For me, the quest appeared after finishing the main storyline, but it might depend on how you play.
Smearguru will ask you to bring a crushed Leppa Berry. These berries are common in the world and can be obtained by hitting trees with headbutts. Once you have a berry, you’ll need to crush it.
How to Make Dyes and Paint Balloons
Pokémon with the Crush specialty can help you make dyes. To find them, search your Pokédex for the keyword “Crush.” Onix and Pawmi are two good options. Keep in mind, crushing different items can produce various colors of dye, not just Leppa Berries.
Once you have a dye, Smearguru will give you the recipe for Paint Balloons. These balloons come in many colors and can hint at the berries or items you need to crush for different shades.
Painting Items Turns Simple
Painting items is straightforward. You can either take Smearguru with you, who will help paint buildings and objects, or you can do it yourself using Paint Balloons. To use a balloon, stand in front of what you want to color, select the balloon, and choose “Use.”
Just remember, only certain items can be painted. In the crafting menu, items that can be colored will have a small paintbrush icon in the top right corner. With these tools, you can make your island bright and colorful as you like. Enjoy creating a vibrant world in Pokémon Pokopia!
