Understanding how to generate and connect power in StarRupture is essential for building a working sci-fi factory. You can’t gather resources or send them to your clients without a steady power supply. The game introduces many core mechanics early on, which can make it easy to miss some helpful tips while you’re still figuring things out. The power system in StarRupture can feel a bit tricky at first, but follow these steps, and you’ll quickly get the hang of keeping your machines running smoothly without constant supervision.

How to Generate Power in StarRupture
To produce power, place Solar Generators anywhere within your base. Each costs 40 basic building materials, and there’s no limit on how many you can build. Every solar panel produces a limited amount of power, so more complex machines with higher demands will need more energy. You can see a machine’s power needs by clicking on it and opening the info tab.
Saving Power or Making Adjustments
If you need to conserve energy or want to move things around, just turn off machines by interacting and flipping their power switch. This gives your power grid some relief while you expand or reconfigure.
Connecting Devices to Power
To power devices like Ore Excavators or Smelters, connect them to your Solar Generators using either platforms or rails. Both types of structures conduct electricity, so you don’t need separate wires. Your entire base shares the same power grid, meaning as long as a machine is connected in some way, and your generators have enough energy, it will turn on.
Electricity can travel as far as needed, so distant machines won’t run out of power as long as there’s a rail linking them back to the main grid. Make sure your solar panels are connected to something like a platform, and as long as everything is linked through rails, your factory’s power will spread throughout.
Powering Up Ore Excavators
For specialized machines like Ore Excavators, which can’t have platforms attached directly to them, connect them to a powered machine like a Smelter with a rail. As long as the connected machine has power, the excavator will share that energy.
The key is to ensure your Solar Generators are touching at least one platform connected to your machines. As long as everything is linked via rails—an inescapable part of StarRupture—power will flow through your entire setup.
Keeping Your Power Systems Organized
If you want to hide your Solar Generators or keep your work area tidy, attach a platform to a solar panel and build walkways to connect to your other devices. This makes it easier to organize and access everything while keeping your power sources out of the way.
