Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous offers a range of romance options, though some may not be immediately obvious. This is especially true for characters that you can recruit later in the game, like Queen Galfrey and Arueshalae. Both characters are available for romantic involvement, with no restrictions based on your character’s gender. However, pursuing a romance with Arueshalae can be tricky, as making the wrong choices can practically lead to a failed romance.

It’s important to note that while Arueshalae can potentially take a turn towards evil, she becomes unavailable for romance if she embraces that path. Additionally, to keep her as a romantic partner, avoid the Demon, Swarm, and Lich routes. Starting with the Azata path is recommended, as it allows you to recruit Arueshalae earlier in the game without necessitating a commitment to that alignment.

Optimal Strategy for Winning Arueshalae’s Heart

Begin with the Azata Path for Best Chances

In Act 1, focus on completing the "Starward Gaze" quest and gather followers to sing at the temple, ensuring you select the option that unlocks the Azata path. This unlocks the ability to recruit Arueshalae toward the end of Act 2, after you find a harp and sextant to position in the Shrine of Desna. You should interact with these items in the following order: middle, right, left, middle to trigger a conversation with Arueshalae.

During the attack on Drezen, make sure to end the recruitment of Arueshalae by visiting the dungeons and locating her. Choose the dialogue options that acknowledge her presence and eventually lead you to the Azata choice, expressing that you saw a glimmer of hope in her. At this moment, she’ll join your party. It’s advisable to keep her in your group throughout the gameplay to ensure you don’t miss romance-related events that occur in later quests.

Continuing the Romance Beyond Act 2

Avoid Choices that End the Romance

Arueshalae’s romance path is unique in that you’ll need to be cautious about avoiding certain dialogue options rather than just selecting positive ones. In Act 3, when you engage with her in conversation, choose the apology when it’s presented. Selecting the option that asserts you’re not joking will close off her romance. You’ll also need to eliminate the hag and offer forgiveness to Arueshalae afterward. Avoid winking at her after defeating Marhevok, as that can also jeopardize the romance.

The focus during your interactions should be on emotional depth rather than surface-level romance. Opt for dialogue that relates to her as a person and highlights that love encompasses more than just the physical aspects.

Once those conversations are complete, you’ll need to accomplish the quests "Borrowed Dreams" and "Arueshalae Imprisoned." During these missions, show empathy towards her and refrain from asking if she can control her true nature. Once you finish those quests, you can proceed to attack Midnight Fane.

As you interact with Arueshalae in the lower city and again in the Ten Thousand Delights, be supportive to meet the true love criteria. Intimidating Rokhorn during this phase also contributes to establishing a deeper bond. In the "Dreams in Ruin" quest, be careful to sidestep these critical choices:

Asking Arueshalae what she plans to do next will push her toward evil.
Destroying objects during encounters will also lead her down a dark path.
References to a sexual relationship will terminate the possibility of romance.
Attempts to kiss her will end the romantic journey.

In conversations with her, emphasize her character, not the physical aspects of love. The finale of your romance arc unfolds in Act 5 during the "What Do You Dream Of" quest. Re-enter Arueshalae’s dream and navigate the dialogue towards her feelings and your shared vision of a future together until you unlock the option to kiss her. Ultimately, choosing to kiss her will successfully conclude Arueshalae’s romance in Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous.
