It’s your mission to take down the teams and leaders behind the Megacorps in Neon Abyss 2. To face the main leaders, you must first defeat two mechanical bosses, Talon and Talos AI. The first major boss, Trojan, significantly increases the difficulty compared to previous challenges.
Trojan uses many projectiles and sharp tentacles to block your approach. If you fail, it’s back to the bar while the Megacorps keep winning at everyone else’s expense.
Neon Abyss 2 is in Early Access on Steam, so details might change later.
How To Beat Trojan
Trojan is the first major target you need to defeat to unlock deeper floors in the Abyss and face later bosses. You find it on Floor Five.
This boss introduces challenging bullet-hell mechanics with three phases: Phase One at 100% health, Phase Two at 75% health, and Phase Three at about 30% health.
Some good weapons to help you defeat Trojan include:
- 9th Color
- Loong
- RITUAL
- Noxmare
- TOPSPIN
- Verdict
- OVERFLARE
- Sunder
If you want a better chance of finding new weapons or dislike the starting guns, equip the X Fate Card from the Statue Of Fate for an extra weapon at the start.
Phase One
Phase One is the easiest part of the battle. It begins with Trojan disappearing and summoning four enemies for you to defeat.
Eliminate the enemies with red wires first, as they deal the most damage. After defeating them, Trojan reenters the fight, and the real battle starts.
Trojan will shoot waves of bullets in a tight pattern. Standing on the center platform gives you space to dodge and attack effectively.
The bullet pattern changes after some time, aiming for the upper platforms, so stay on the center platform for safety.
Phase Two
Once Trojan drops to 75% health, it transforms and disconnects from the top of the screen. It starts shooting projectiles in two waves towards the center platform, so you should move to one of the upper platforms.
At around 50% health, it will start moving back and forth while shooting projectiles in a circular pattern like in Phase One.
Trojan will also attack with tentacles that have a large hitbox. They don’t track your movement but will flash red before striking.
When the circular pattern begins, return to the center platform for the best chance to dodge projectiles and avoid the tentacles.
Phase Three
At about 30% health, Trojan enters its final phase, returning to the upper center of the screen. It remains vulnerable but will now strike with smaller, tracking tentacles.
These tentacles come down every few seconds, tracing a line of ones and zeros to indicate where they will strike, giving you a moment to escape.
Keep moving in one direction to avoid getting hit by the tentacles and finish off Trojan. After defeating it, you’ll receive another Artifact and a portal to the Blackdog Safehouse.
What Is The Safehouse?
The Safehouse is a midpoint between the fifth and seventh floors, giving you a break in between battles. The main feature of the Safehouse is the four containers on the right side.
These containers store Bombs, Keys, Coins, and Hatchmon Eggs. You can store a maximum of ten Bombs, Keys, and Hatchmon Eggs, while the Coin container holds up to 100 Coins in groups of ten.
Items placed here will be available each time you reach the Safehouse during runs and won’t disappear unless you remove them. This allows you to stockpile items for the tougher floors ahead.
