Basalt Stone is one of the many types of resources you’ll discover in Dune: Awakening. Like other materials you’ll need to gather on Arrakis, Basalt Stone is essential for creating enhanced building materials required for specific constructions.
If you haven’t found any Basalt Stone yet and are curious about where to locate it, this guide is here to help. We’ll highlight some of the best spots to collect Basalt Stone in large amounts and discuss its applications in construction within Dune: Awakening.
Where To Find Basalt Stone
You can primarily find Basalt Stone on the left side of the map, particularly in these regions:
- Eastern Shield Wall
- Western Shield Wall
- The O’Odham
- Mysa Tarill
- Sheol
While these areas generally have Basalt Stone, there are specific locations within them where you can find it more easily.
Note that navigating some regions in Dune: Awakening is easier than others.
For instance, while you can find Basalt Stone in Sheol, that area is highly radioactive, which complicates traversal.
Mysa Tarill
Mysa Tarill is significantly more open and accessible by vehicles compared to other areas on that side of the map.
Remember, you’ll need a Cutterray MK 3 to mine Basalt Stone.
This equipment makes it much simpler to enter the area, extract Basalt Stone, and return to the busier sections of the map.
Be prepared for elevation changes in the top-left corner of Arrakis’ map. Climbing may be necessary.
A Planar Suspensor Belt or another type of Suspensor can be beneficial before exploring this area.
You can also use the Crossroads Trading Post in this region to quickly sell Basalt Stone or find other resources you might need.
Eastern Shield Wall
The Eastern Shield Wall is another excellent spot for Basalt Stone, as it borders Jamal Eifrit Al-Gharb and is close to the Vermillius Gap.
The Pinnacle Tradepost is also nearby, providing a quick escape route if needed.
These regions are much friendlier, offering a quick exit if you feel overwhelmed or your sub-fief is too far from the left side of the map.
How To Use Basalt Stone
Your main use for Basalt Stone will be to refine it into Plastone.
Plastone is a durable building material that’s resistant to sandstorms and is utilized for various special items from different factions in the game, like the Atreides and the Harkonnens.
To refine Plastone, you’ll need three ingredients, depending on your refinery:
- Basalt Stone
- Silicone Block
- Water
Keep in mind that Plastone is refined in larger quantities, allowing you to create up to 250 Plastone at once, depending on your refinery’s capacity.
