Palworld features intricate breeding and combat systems that enhance the optimization of your Pals’ stats, skills, and passive abilities. One useful item is the Pal Reverser, which allows you to change your Pals’ gender without the need for breeding new ones.
Before diving into the Pal Reverser, it’s essential to understand its cost and the materials or tokens required for the exchange. Whether you’re aiming to refine your Pal lineup or hasten the breeding of your ideal Pal, here’s what you should know.
What Is The Pal Reverser?
The Pal Reverser is a Legendary consumable introduced in the Tides of Terraria crossover update. This device enables you to change a Pal’s gender at the new Surgery Table, making it easier for breeding, completing dexterity matches, or simply for aesthetics.
It can be purchased from various NPCs or discovered in treasure chests scattered across different biomes. You might even find it by searching through ocean debris.
How To Get The Pal Reverser

To obtain a Pal Reverser, you should visit specific vendors or loot rare sources:
Arena Merchant

You’ll require 35 Battle Tickets to obtain a Pal Reverser from the Arena Merchant, found at the entrance of the Arena. You earn these tickets by completing Solo Challenges within the Arena. Defeating NPC Pal teams rewards you with several tickets for each challenge.
The Arena is situated on a small island at coordinates (628, 15), just south of the Tower of the PIDF. Using a flying or swimming mount to reach it is recommended, and there’s a fast travel point available for easier return visits.
Vigilante Bounty Officers

Bounty Officers located in Small Settlement, Fisherman’s Point, and Dune Shelter offer Pal Reversers for seven Bounty Tokens each. Bounty Tokens can be collected by defeating Wanted Fugitive NPCs found throughout the game world.
Speak with Intel Dealers in settlements to find out the locations of undiscovered Wanted Fugitives.
These enemies can be identified by their large red health bars and purple auras. After defeating them, you can trade their tokens for a Pal Reverser once you return to your camp.
Treasure Chests And Dungeons

In addition to vendors, Pal Reversers can also be found inside treasure chests. These chests may appear in enemy camps, hidden areas, dungeons, and salvage sites. More perilous zones, like volcanic and snow camps, show a higher likelihood of containing a Reverser.
You might discover Pal Reversers in trash piles after fishing in high-level zones.
Rarer digs carry about a nine percent chance of yielding a Reverser. Exploring and opening these boxes, often marked by small crates or glowing chests, provides another path to changing your Pal’s gender without using tickets.
How To Use The Pal Reverser

To utilize the Pal Reverser, you need access to the Pal Surgery Table, introduced in recent updates. You’ll need to reach technology level 36 to unlock it. Be sure the Pal you wish to modify is currently in your active party, as those in the Palbox or working at your base aren’t eligible for this process. Here are the steps:
- Set up or access a Pal Surgery Table at your base. It becomes available via the Technology Tree.
- Add the Pal to your party; only active Pals can undergo the procedure.
- Interact with the Surgery Table to open the Pal Operating screen.
- Select the Pal you want to change.
- Two tabs will appear at the top: Transfer Passive and Change Gender.
- Click on Change Gender. A preview will display the Pal’s current gender and the gender it will switch to.
- Click Edit. If you have a Pal Reverser in your inventory, it will be consumed, and the gender will be swapped.
Afterward, your Pal will instantly reflect its new gender.
