Peak is a teamwork-focused climbing game that includes high-altitude challenges and hidden survival elements. In the perilous Tropic zone, a sneaky threat you might encounter is the tick. These pesky parasites can latch onto your legs and inflict poison damage over time, even if you haven’t been in contact with plants or anything suspicious. If you notice you’re slowly taking poison damage and can’t pinpoint the cause, a tick is likely the culprit.
While ticks are relatively easy to deal with once you spot them, early detection can make a significant difference in your climbing experience—transforming it from a smooth ascent to a frustrating struggle. Here’s how to safely remove ticks and what to do with them afterward.
How to Remove a Tick
In Peak, you or a teammate might see a dark spot growing on your leg, along with ongoing poison damage. That’s a tick.
If you’re in multiplayer, getting rid of a tick is straightforward. If it’s feeding, simply stand still while a team member approaches and presses E to pull it off. After that, use either an antidote, a medkit (which heals four ticks of poison), or a cure-all item to stop the poison.
If you’re playing solo, the process is a bit trickier. To check for a tick, look down at your leg to see if a tiny one is feeding. Unfortunately, you can’t remove it until it has swollen enough to grasp. Once you can see it clearly, bend down and press E to remove it.
Tip: If a teammate’s stamina suddenly drops for no reason, it might be a good idea to check their legs!
Removing a tick stops the poison effect, but keeps in mind that it won’t heal any damage you’ve already taken. You’ll still need to use a consumable item to cure or heal yourself.
Once you’ve removed the tick, you can pick it up as an item. You can consume it for a small amount of hunger recovery or save it for later. Interestingly, eating a tick contributes to the Foraging Badge achievement, which requires you to eat five different types of berries during a single climbing expedition.
