Completing the Task: Solving How to Defeat Celedaen in Oblivion

The Dark Brotherhood questline stands out as one of the premier experiences in Oblivion Remastered, often regarded as the most engaging alongside the Thieves Guild. Once you reach the pivotal moment during the Purification quest, the nature of your missions will shift dramatically, as you’ll begin receiving directives from Lucien Lachance through dead drops.

How to Begin Affairs of a Wizard

After fulfilling Lucien Lachance’s orders and completing the Purification quest, which involves eliminating everyone at the Cheydinhal Sanctuary, you can embark on the Affairs of a Wizard quest. This will mark a departure from your previous assignments with the Dark Brotherhood.

Your next contract can be found at Hero Hill, located in a hollowed-out rock covered in moss. This mission requires you to eliminate a Necromancer named Celedaen at Leafrot Cave, situated in the southeastern part of Cyrodiil, just east of Bravil.

How to Defeat Celedaen

Make your way to Leafrot Cave and be sure to grab the Nirnroot located to the left of the entrance before heading inside.

Once inside, you will face a rat and a skeleton that you need to dispatch. After that, examine the small study area and read The Path of Transcendence found on Celedaen’s desk.

This will reveal that Celedaen’s vulnerability lies in removing the Sands of Resolve, an hourglass, from his possession. The most effective method is through pickpocketing, so equip your best Chameleon gear and invisibility spells.

Next, unlock the hard lock on the wooden door to the northeast, defeat any undead present, and scavenge the room before proceeding deeper into Leafrot Hollow.

Drop down through the hole before you, then stealthily open the wooden door to find Celedaen wandering through the corridors.

Here, you can either take Celedaen down or pickpocket the Sands of Resolve to conquer him and complete the Affairs of a Wizard quest.

What Rewards Will You Receive from Affairs of a Wizard?

Travel to the city of Chorrol to collect your rewards and receive your next assignment.

Once in Chorrol, look for your reward in a small sack hidden behind the Great Oak at the heart of the town.

Inside the sack, you’ll find:

• 500 gold
• Dead Drop Orders #2 for your upcoming contract.

From here, you can move on to the following quest, Next of Kin.
