After spending much of the early part of Where Winds Meet in the Qinghe area, it can start to feel quite cozy and charming. There are some tricksters around, but overall, the atmosphere is calm and easygoing.
That all changes once you arrive in the Kaifeng region, especially when you reach the large city at its heart. Here, you’ll find many new activities to try, but you’ll also encounter numerous con artists in the Streetwise Sage Lost Chapter.
### How To Start Streetwise Sage
Once you arrive in Kaifeng City and are free to explore, you can pick up a variety of quests. The Streetwise Sage Lost Chapter is available from the very beginning and isn’t far from the city’s entrance. Head east toward Reverie Hall, and you’ll enter a vast entertainment district called Fair Grounds, marked by a large dragon station decorated with lights in the center.
Climbing the statue in the area rewards you with some nice treasure at the top and unlocks an achievement for reaching the highest point in the region. As you enter, the Lost Chapter will immediately appear, with your character noting that you should find Xue Chou and learn martial arts from them. Luckily, they’re just ahead, resting against a pillar a little north of the entry point.
### Sneaking Through The Courier Station
After talking to Xue Chou—who doesn’t seem particularly happy to be acknowledged—you’ll be tasked with stealing items from Khitan soldiers at Huaixin Outpost. This mission is tricky because you don’t know exactly where the items are, and you need to complete it using stealth. Getting caught ends the mission, forcing you to start over.
Enemy soldiers don’t have visible lines of sight like in some stealth dungeons, so it’s best to stay on rooftops when possible and avoid open areas where guards can see you. Moving along the east wall outside the outpost helps you reach higher vantage points, making stealth easier. Many rooftops have Cloud Step points that allow quick jumps from roof to roof. Follow the objective markers to eavesdrop on the soldiers and gather intel.
#### Eavesdropping Location #1
You need to listen in on a Khitan warrior discussing trading. It’s best to find a safe spot first, as you cannot sprint or double jump inside the area. Outside the perimeter, move along the east wall and climb onto higher buildings before entering. Once on top, you can use Cloud Step points to move easily across rooftops. Approach the target marker and listen to gather your next lead.
#### Eavesdropping Location #2
Your next target is inside a central building. Approach carefully, as there are guards patrolling. Drop down only when guards are far away, and hide in the bushes near an open window to eavesdrop safely, avoiding detection. The nobles inside talk about important items stored in the back courtyard, which points you toward your final listening spot.
#### Eavesdropping Location #3
Now, you’re on the ground floor. To continue, exit the outpost to regain your jumping ability, then climb back onto rooftops from outside. Moving east again, jump over the wall, and follow the perimeter north until you find a high building near your final target.
From this vantage point, listen to A’gunu, who hints that the main hall’s chill suggests an opening on the roof. Spot the opening leading inside the rafters – it’s your route to infiltrate further.
### Stealing The Items
Inside, you’ll have several items to take, but first, you must eavesdrop on each target. After listening, use the Celestial Seize Mystic Skill to grab items from above. The targets include a Compass, an Embroidered Handkerchief, and a Suspicious Letter Box. You won’t get caught as long as you don’t fall from the height, making this easier than it seems.
Once all items are collected, leave the outpost and meet with Xue Chou.
### Chasing The Thief
After exiting, a thief quickly snatches the items from you and runs off. Your task is to catch them, but this part is mostly a scripted sequence—you just need to follow prompts on the screen. Keep holding forward to run and press the shown buttons when prompted. Eventually, you’ll leap across lanterns along the dragon statue at the Fair Grounds using Cloud Steps.
Once you catch up, you’ll confront the thief on the city wall. You’ll need to fight to retrieve your items. The thief isn’t very strong; deflect their attacks to drain their Qi, then land a single Execution move to defeat them.
Afterward, Xue Chou reappears and explains that all of this was a test—including the sneaking and the chase. He admits that he was after the items, but the whole sequence was also meant to test your skills.
Completing this chapter unlocks the Evasive Charge Inner Way, marking the end of the Streetwise Sage Lost Chapter.
