Moral choices frequently appear as hurdles in the main game, and they return with even more weight in Lies of P: Overture. During your journey into the past, you’ll meet a peculiar yet very amiable puppet called the Crusher Puppet. However, he claims he’s not really a puppet.
As you might expect, the true nature of the Crusher Puppet is quite unsettling. To uncover his identity, you’ll need to gather clues by interacting with him in various hidden spots, ultimately discovering the truth in Pistis Harbour. Unfortunately, once you learn the truth, you will face a heart-wrenching choice. What will you do next?
Finding the Crusher Puppet: The First Encounter
The location of the Crusher Puppet is fortunately easy to spot. You can’t miss it. When you first enter the excavation site in the mines, you’ll cross a wooden bridge and then enter a small mining shaft.
As you step inside the shaft, you’ll hear the Crusher Puppet calling for help. He’s located to your right near a table with an Electric Blitz Abrasive. After speaking with him, he will tell you he’s trapped and asks for your assistance. Agree to help him escape.
Finding the Crusher Puppet: The Next Step
As you delve deeper into the excavation site, you’ll come close to the Crusher Puppet when you encounter a waterfall area where you’ll need to fight a Mine Puppet miniboss. After the miniboss encounter:
- Proceed up the ramp at the back
- Fight off any dog puppets you find along the way
- Continue down the narrow path until you reach a wooden contraption
- Use it to cross the chasm into a new area
You can leap off the wood contraption before reaching the other side to access a small ledge with a Miraculous Enhancement Ampoule.
Once you reach the opposite side, listen for the Crusher Puppet’s cries for help again. Move forward, bypassing some mining puppets and crossing another wooden bridge, where you will face a saw dog puppet. On the right side of this area, you’ll find a ledge drop-off illuminated by a lantern. Take that drop-off.
Continuing along the only available path, past a butterfly and an explosive mining cart, you’ll eventually find the Crusher Puppet sitting alone at the end. Speak to him again and exhaust his dialogue to have him move on to the next spot.
In this detour area, you’ll spot a locked treasure box behind a mining cart. Approach it, but be quick and back away! An explosive cart will roll down the track, hitting the cart below and causing an explosion, revealing an enemy miner puppet. Inside the box lies an Ancient Disk, worth the trouble of exploring this route for the Crusher Puppet.
Finding the Crusher Puppet: The Conclusion
As you proceed further into the mines, the Crusher Puppet’s final location is straightforward to find. You’ll know you’re close when you cross a long wooden bridge with a Shield Puppet miniboss. After defeating this miniboss, you’ll discover the Crusher Puppet in a chamber across the bridge, to the left of a collapsed mine shaft.
Speak with the Crusher Puppet one last time. You’ll have numerous dialogue options this time, so make sure to exhaust all of them. By doing this, you will unlock the gesture: Doubt. Once his dialogue is finished, you can continue your journey through the mine.
From this spot, you can use the wooden elevator ahead and roll into the small opening in the wall for an optional boss. However, it’s advisable to wait until you’ve unlocked the relevant shortcut ahead before attempting that boss.
Discovering the Crusher Puppet’s True Identity
The real identity of the Crusher Puppet can be found at the base of the excavation site: Pistris Harbour. Starting from the Closed Mine Tunnel Stargazer where Rosaura is located:
- Make your way down to the harbour using the ramp and a ladder.
- Face the Shield Puppet miniboss near the submarine.
- Head in the opposite direction through a doorway.
Continuing along this path will lead you to a chamber filled with machinery—and inside, you’ll see a large brain in a vat. Speak with the brain, learning that it is Alexander’s true body. Tell him the truth about his existence until you’re offered the chance to:
Ask how to help him.
He’ll request you to turn off the machine and aid him in deciding his fate. You can either assist him in dying or refuse to end his life.
Should You Help the Crusher Puppet: Alexander Goodman?
Before making your choice, note that this decision doesn’t alter the story of the DLC or the main game. This choice hinges entirely on how you feel. This is a moral dilemma, similar to deciding what to do about someone in a critical medical condition.
|
Refuse |
By refusing, you gain nothing, but Alexander will remain alive in the vat, only to deteriorate later as the gas runs out. |

|
Accept |
If you choose to assist Alexander, he will fade away, thanking you as he passes and revealing his real name. As a reward, you will receive the album Nightmare and gain Humanity. |
