A hidden but straightforward side quest in Lies of P: Overture revolves around the blind artist, Goddard. While tracking her down is simple, the quest itself lacks precise directions, leaving players to figure things out along the way.
As you collect the necessary items to advance her quest, you’ll return them to Goddard and must select the right dialogue options to achieve the best outcome. Understanding how to handle Goddard’s reward can be just as murky as her artistic vision. Thankfully, we’ve done the homework for you.
Locating Goddard, The Blind Painter
Goddard is easy to spot during your first playthrough. She can be found in the Carnival area at the far end, right next to the tram that leads further into the DLC.
As you approach, she’ll call for you. Follow her voice to find her in a wheelchair at the end of the station.
To initiate her quest, agree to help her retrieve her canvas, which is lying right in front of her.
Pick it up and put it back on the easel. Afterward, accept her gratitude to answer a question that determines the quest’s outcome:
Incredible! It’s a brilliant piece of art. (Lie) |
Goddard agrees, commending your “good eye.” You will gain Humanity, and the questline will progress. |
---|---|
It is just a blank canvas. (Truth) |
Goddard dismisses you as ridiculous and tells you to leave her alone. This will lock you out of her questline, preventing any further progress. |
Finding Goddard’s Art Supplies
Goddard never explicitly asks you to retrieve her art supplies, meaning you might stumble upon them unintentionally or rely on a guide. That’s where we come in.
You’ll find the supplies on a table located next to the shortcut that leads to the Two-Faced Overseer in the Zelator Underground Facility.
You can access this area by:
- Defeating Veronique
- Turning off the coolant
- Unlocking the fourth Stargazer location in the Zelator Underground Facility
- Descending the stairs to the right of the Stargazer
After collecting the Art Supplies, head back to Goddard at the tram station.
She’ll reward you with a Dim Ergo Chunk for delivering them, but there’s not much else to do right now. Goddard’s quest will naturally progress as you continue through the DLC.
Be sure not to finish the final boss of the DLC before returning to Goddard. Doing so will lock you out of her questline.
After some time, roughly around when you defeat Lumacchio, you can return to Goddard’s spot to find that she has passed away. On her easel is a finished painting.
It would be wrong to leave it there without its artist, so pick up the painting along with the accompanying letter, “To The One Within The Darkness.”
Once the painting is in your inventory, open and inspect it. This will also unlock the Clear Blue Sky vinyl as an additional hidden reward.
Playing this vinyl to completion at Hotel Krat will grant you more Humanity.
Using Goddard’s Painting
The best action for any painting is to display it prominently. Return to the Eventide Krat Hotel and look toward the exit to the practice garden from the Stargazer.
On the right wall, near where Venigni and the Legion Arm machine are, you should find a prominent empty space beneath the light fixture. Approaching that area will automatically start a cutscene where the painting will be hung up.
After completing the DLC and defeating the final boss, you can return to the present timeline. Go to the present-day Krat Hotel and approach the painting.
Interact with it, and the colors will be refreshed and brightened. This will trigger the gain of Humanity.
