Completing the Search for Bloodwood Sap in Runescape: Dragonwilds

After you’ve familiarized yourself with the combat and basic mechanics in Runescape: Dragonwilds, your next essential mission from the old man is to locate an individual named Cathan. During your quest to find this adventurer, you’ll arrive at the entrance to Velgar’s Lair where you’ll uncover a harsh reality and receive the next challenge: to confront Velgar itself.

Before you can proceed, however, you’ll need to gather several items to create the Challenge Horn, one of which is Bloodwood Sap. Unlike other resources, this particular item isn’t found in various locations, so you’ll need to go to a specific spot to collect it.

Where to Find Bloodwood Sap

To obtain Bloodwood Sap, you must first enter the Bloodblight Swamp, located to the right of Whispering Swamp. You’ll access this area by passing through the Fractured Plains. Be cautious, as Bloodblight Swamp is filled with toxins, so it’s wise to brew some poison resistance potions to survive.

This region also hosts level three enemies and a potential mini-boss, so equip yourself with bronze-tier gear before entering. Once you’re prepared, make your way to the southern edge of Bloodblight Swamp, where you’ll spot a structure on the map that indicates the location of Bloodwood Sap.

As you venture through Bloodblight Swamp, be on the lookout for the entrance further south on the western side of the plains, which you can use to navigate through the area.

You’ll notice a bridge leading to this building on your map, but be ready to fight, as there are numerous enemies waiting for you as soon as you cross. After clearing the enemies, head to the large tree in the center of this area, which will have Bloodwood Sap deposits.

To collect the sap from the tree, you’ll need an Iron Logging Axe. Some sap deposits may be located higher up, but you can climb the roots to reach them. You can collect up to four deposits of Bloodwood Sap here, but keep in mind that each requires a separate slot in your inventory.

Although Bloodwood Sap appears to respawn visually, we have not been able to harvest it again with the axe after the initial collection.

Once you’ve gathered your Bloodwood Sap, simply create a Lodestone nearby and teleport back to your base to prepare the remaining items for the fight with Velgar.
