The recent Tides of Terraria update introduced a diverse range of Pals, featuring some new Alpha bosses in Palworld. Locating these Pals can be tricky, and capturing them can prove even more challenging without the right strategy regarding where to find them and which weapons or Pals to bring for the battle.
One standout Pal is Neptilius, known for its impressive design and strength in combat, along with being a valuable helper at your base. Its partner skill also simplifies ocean travel. However, catching Neptilius requires defeating it first, which can be a tough task.
Locating Neptilius
Neptilius can be found on the Isle of the Glacial Core, specifically at the 139, 651 coordinates, which is located northeast of the Tower of Pal Genetic Research Unit and northwest of the Duneshelter. The giant Pal statue in the area makes it easy to identify this spot from a distance.
Upon reaching the area, you can interact with the Sealed Realm of the Glacial Core on the ground to start the boss battle with Neptilius. This action will teleport you to the arena where the battle takes place.
Strategies to Defeat and Catch Neptilius
Neptilius is a level 60 Water-type Pal, particularly vulnerable to Electric-type attacks. If you aim to catch it, make sure to have some Ultimate Spheres with you. With a total of 5,453 HP and significant armor, you’ll want to come equipped with powerful weapons. A Plasma Rifle can effectively reduce its health quickly.
While Neptilius’s attacks cover a wide area, they tend to be slow, allowing you to dodge them easily if you keep moving. Electric-type Pals at level 60 or above can also provide valuable support during the battle.
Once Neptilius’s health drops below 1,000 HP, you can start tossing Ultimate Spheres at it. Defeating this boss will earn you the Neptilius Bounty Token, one Ancient Technology Point, nine Ancient Civilization Parts, 30 Pure Quartz, 15 Polymer, and 15 Carbon Fiber.
You can also obtain Neptilius from the Huge Damp Egg, which allows you to skip the fight. However, you still need to defeat it to earn the Bounty Token.
Neptilius’s Partner Skill and Work Usefulness
Neptilius’s Partner Skill, called Sentinel of the Great Sea, enables you to swim across any water body. It moves faster in water than many other Pals with similar abilities. Before you can ride it, however, you need to craft the Neptilius Saddle, which is accessible from the Technology menu after reaching Level 63. You’ll need these items to craft it:
- 30x Leather
- 50x Dark Fragment
- 30x Meteorite Fragment
- 200x Paldium Fragment
Once the saddle is crafted, Neptilius will assist you by launching follow-up water spear attacks on your foes.
With a level four watering skill, Neptilius can efficiently handle any watering tasks at your base, making it a valuable companion, especially if you have a crusher setup for turning stones into Paldium Fragments.
