In Peak, survival often resembles hanging onto a cliff and avoiding frostbite. Yet, amidst the chaos, you can discover one of the game’s most delightful surprises: the elusive Capybara. These charming little creatures only show up deep into your climb, requiring a bit of patience to track down.
Search for a Capybara, and you’ll experience one of Peak’s oddest yet sweetest side quests. This guide will help you find these high-altitude legends and share what to do when you finally meet your new furry friend.
Where to Find the Capybara
Capybaras can only be found in the third biome, known as Alpine, which features a rugged, frost-covered landscape. If you’ve reached this point, you’re aware that the cold poses a significant threat, so be ready for environmental challenges during your search.
How to Spot Capybaras
Capybaras are usually found in high-altitude sauna spots: circular clearings that provide a break from the harsh climb. Check ledges hidden in corners or slightly recessed platforms at high points in the third biome. You may not see them from a distance, so you’ll need to climb around to uncover their locations. Keep a lookout for the distinctive Yellow Winterberry resting atop their heads.
Sitting in water can help relieve frost damage.
Earning the Animal Serenading Badge
To unlock the Kril Hat and achieve the Animal Serenading Badge, you’ll need to find the Bugle in the starting Shore biome, located in the plane, and play it for the Capybaras to serenade them and earn your well-deserved reward.
The Bugle of Friendship, found as rare loot, can be used as well.
