Completing the Quest for Mandrake in Tainted Grail: Avalon

In Tainted Grail: The Fall Of Avalon, you’ll need a mix of herbs, flowers, and roots to create various alchemical potions and tasty meals. One of the trickier ingredients to find is Mandrake. While it’s not essential right away, you’ll encounter it in some quests, and if you’re aiming for the All-Mother Blessings, you’ll want to keep some on hand.

Finding Mandrake can be challenging, but it is available in certain areas and can also be purchased from select merchants. Here’s a guide to help you locate Mandrake easily so you can focus more on your adventures and less on herb hunting.

Where to Find Mandrake in the South of the Horns Region

Mandrake can be spotted growing in the wild, primarily in the forested areas of the Horns of the South. However, these plants can be quite sparse. I found several notable patches near the Abandoned Village fast-travel point, which you’ll reach by traveling northeast along the King’s Road.

From the Abandoned Village marker, head west, and you’ll come across a patch near where the stones meet the grass.
Follow the King’s Road down from the Abandoned Village marker until you encounter a collapsed section with a steep drop; there’s a patch in that area below.
After visiting the patch near the broken section of the King’s Road, head west along the rocky outcrop to find another patch shortly after passing the Druidic Shrine.

Note: It seems consistent that Mandrake often grows near rocky outcrops. While this might just be a coincidence, I didn’t find any Mandrake far from those formations.

Where to Buy Mandrake

You can purchase Mandrake from several merchants for 4 gold per root. One option is Broc, whom you’ll meet during the "Confrontation Looks Like Hope" quest. He can be found by a bridge in the northern area of the map, though he may not always be available depending on your quest progress.

Another merchant is Jann, located in his quarters at the South of the Horns Fortress. Just head to your stash within the fortress, and you’ll find the entrance to Jann’s room.

For a more reliable source, O Cuinn Cinnamonsage offers a steady supply of Mandrake. His island can be found southwest of your starting beach area. Swim over, take care of a few Drowners, and you’ll find O Cuinn in the back. Talk to him, assure him you think he’s human, and you can check out what he has for sale.
